READ THIS BEFORE COMMENT: brLet me clear up that this video is not a demo of a product And especially not A SOUND DEMO of a product As you can CLEARLY SEE in the title, it's asking a broader question whether or not we still need traditional amps, and what can be used to replace it, and what the consequences of this would be I'm explaining how you can use a pedal like this, at home are in live situations I used this particular pedal to see if it actually works with my pedalboard (HENCE THE SHITLOAD OF EFFECTS ON THE GUITAR) I made a demo of bhow I would use it/b at this particular time Just made a little track to support it I do not really make traditional demos, I think demos are boring And because it's almost Xmas you can win one! Ok, bye! X Comment from : @PaulDavids |

Nice stuff I am trying to avoid lugging an amp to gigs I just want to plug my pedalboard into the mixer If my multi fx unit (nuxmg30) contains amp sims, do I get anything from the preamp or will it already be covered?brCheers! Comment from : @dougstewart6581 |
why do you need the pedals and the modeling pre amp? Comment from : @jstones9872 |
Seems most self taught guitar players will never understand all the bells and whistles or how to use these things Stick to a decent amp and pedals I've heard some of the best music played on some 5 dollar guitars and old beat up amps Comment from : @jimicicchini |

Wish I could have a Time Machine to the old days, when it was only guitars, amps, bass, and drums, and no stupid synthesizers or auto tune Comment from : @liamomalley5851 |

Cool new idea! The first I was aware of these all in one boxes was The paevey profex I bought in 1992 Effects, amp and speaker modeler over 30 years ago Comment from : @schlechtj1 |
I've purchased a few neurals They sound pretty dang good and are convenient but something about a direct connection to a tube amp and the tones, feel, are impossible to capture electronically Comment from : @photoguy4212 |
Pedals can replace amps, but there's always the option of having just an ampbrI like the simplicity of just having an amp and guitar, without all the extra circuits The all in one, multi effects, amp modeling, and digital interface; it's like too many options Comment from : @CurlySimmons-oy7le |
Very nice video, very well done Well done, you no longer need a guitar too Comment from : @alexandreedjekouan5126 |
Well ill put my valve amp next to it And u will be blown of stage Comment from : @DanielDavis730 |

In Rockabilly modern modelling is still not required The part of the cult is to expose vintage amps on stage, too As I tested a lot of modelling amps before buying an old tube amp, I was convinced, that it nowadays seemed to become unnecessary to use amps I was not convinced by any modelling sounds at all I returned back to an old tube amp, slapback and trem Sounds way better on stage Comment from : @RonnyGuittarDuo |

Thanks for the explanation in the beginning It's very useful for people to understand the nonsense of putting a microphone in front of a speaker Comment from : @RobertoFischer |
You cannot replace the connection you get from a tube amp with a modeler, so much that you feel from a tube amp is being cut out in the modeler experience Comment from : @bigjayrillah3508 |

No We don't need amps At all And the more people push amps the more it's going to hurt music Comment from : @iamcase1245 |

I've spent time in recording studios with 2" tape and 32 channel mixing boards I've played live on stage with ampsbrbrFor musicians, we have had what is truly a revolution With convolution, artificial intelligence, and other signal processing techniques, we no longer need amps and cabinets to get the guitar tones we needbrbrIf I'm working at home, there's no need to piss off my neighbors Which, I would have to do to get the best tones with an amp But now? I can get all that deliciousness through my headphones, and my neighbors are none the wiserbrbrQuite a few major artists are using digital modeling / IR for touring No more worrying about room reverb, isoboxes, club / house engineers messing with your gear Just plug right in to the house PA and you're donebrbrNothing will replace the joy you get playing in front of such power, feeling the air vibrate with energybrbrBut amps are no longer a necessity, and their use cases have narrowed Comment from : @jklappenbach |

I don’t know what are you talking about it Comment from : @albakim001 |

I love modern tech, but at the same time i do love old tech I recently got a Kemper, my first amp that doesn't contain any tubes I like it , its impressive and crazy versatile but its just not the exact same as sitting in-front of a cranked valve amp that's snarling and carrying on, moving air Through monitors it simply doesn't really cut it, cannot get feedback unless the guitar is pretty well almost touching the drivers It is good, as far as recording goes its insane and arguably better than stuffing around micing up cabs, its a far better experience than stuff i tried 15-20 years ago like early zoom, line6 and digitech stuff i owned or mucked about with, but it is not the same as a real amp Comment from : @dunxy |
Thank you for this video :)brWould Mooer's micro pre-amp work the same way if I want to run the guitar straight into the PA (in smal venues that don't have amps)?brbrThank you :) Comment from : @Shalini_Jay_Music |

Vox VT30 is not goodbrIt miss the HM2 on the pedal menu Comment from : @vilaintrolltrollinsky8007 |

I've come to conclusion that all guitar amps are really just preamps The valve power amp is basically just marketing at this point It does the job and it has a sound but I'd been curious if there really was any difference between different power amps Especially if the average person is running at between say a tenth of a watt at home and 5 Watts for a fairly loud rehearsal When I was in a band I doubt my amp was putting out more than one watt It just would be too loud for small venues Comment from : @Crunchifyable2 |

Does he sharpen his shoulders? Comment from : @ArinKambitsis |
With SMSL I can get over 100 watts out of something the size of a large matchbox, and with a good pedal and EQ I'm sure it could drive a 4 x 12 on each channel very loudly So I could have a screaming big rig powered by a black matchbox It won't have that tube overdrive unless it can be simulated digitally Comment from : @TimpBizkit |

Bands have been going direct without a physical amp/cab for decades Comment from : @ericajohnson7535 |

How about a straight forward Marshall Plexi lead sound, instead of these Eventide-wannabe (not even close) hipster sea of delays? Record it, with phone mic, and blow me away Comment from : @davidclarkson3066 |
It seems the question should have been "Do we still need pre-amps?" Amp as "amplifier" is the part that amplifies the signal and powers the speakers Pre-amps are actually sometimes even not amplifiers at all (except those particular - or their parts - , which amplify the guitar signal to the line level (or the same for phono preamps)) Pre-amps are even sometimes "downplifiers" as they are decreasing the power of signal to the required level using volume knob :) Comment from : @fotografjindra6442 |
