$1300 isn’t an expensive amp anymore 2 of my tube amps are worth about $4000 each, which is a common price for many good tube amps now, and there are even more expensive ones out there (Wizard, Dumble etc) That’s not to say that $1300 isn’t a lot of money for some people, we all have different budgets and perceived cost is relative… but a $1300 amp isn’t expensive, objectively speaking It’s mid-level at most

I'd be willing to bet that without that mic only audio, the "in the room sound" is quite different because of the speakers The small amp actually sounds pretty decent at least clean and mic'd up

To me, both amps sounded great in their own waybrbrThe cheap amp had a "purer" clean tone, but the tube amp had more "bite" in the picking attack (due to being overdriven), making it sound more "dynamic" Also, it had a "fatter" overall tone, because of subtle tube distortionbrbrUltimately, "great" tone is in the ears of the beholder 😂

This is rather misleading How can you tell by listening to a telephone? How can one tell if they're not in the room,or if the previous two conditions were met,is the listener a beginner? Biased? Deaf?!
