I find therapists often are like hammers and can only see nails, nails being cognitive distortions Some people are very aware of their cognitive distortions I've too often had therapists jump on what I'm saying, only to talk over me to tell me what I was about to say The other thing being the other side of whatever I'm saying Whether I focus on one side or the other, they very often will jump in to contradict without checking brIt's very frustrating, and feels like walking through knee deep mud, with someone continuously trying to pigeonhole what you're saying into the box of cognitive distortions brIt's also very invalidating and is technically emotionally abusive to continuously jump to correcting people instead of validating them Maybe that person is very aware of the fact that there's other perspectives, but their feelings- their natural human reactions, are still valid brSome people do have many cognitive distortions that they're not aware of I'm fact I'd say the majority of people I talk to It's viewed as kind of weird to have that level of awareness But when I meet someone with that level of awareness it's like a breath of fresh air Unfortunately, I've only found one therapist with that level of awareness out of the many that I've seen brSince this is about critiquing patients, I'll add one more Very often people use words like always and words like that, in cognitive distortions But it is a cognitive distortions to think that that applies all the time, how therapists very often do Sometimes when someone says always, they really mean very often, and expect that other people have common sense enough to know that brI've heard of therapists in school that think they have every disease they learn about, and I think whatever is going on there also applies here Yes sometimes words like always canb indicate someone that is exhibiting cognitive distortions, but that is very often not the case, as it is treatedbrContext, intonation, and implied underlying meaning all need to be taken into context brSorry I've hear had too many exhausting conversations with therapistsbrStill useful information I'm just trying to spread some awareness that there is a lie of progress that needs to be made in therapy Comment from : @Averagesasquatch |

Think of unplesantness deposits is compared to a geysers Heated water from magma come up to the surface but the source is known in the dephts but cant be reachbrThe thing is here it can be reached but only if you know the mecanics, nature of its set upbrWe need to forget contributions of (knowlegde) that only reach one inch down and start using the methods that can dig down to the very bottom to evaporise hardshipsbrbrProfessor or not professor, the job gets done or it dosent get donebrA incident trackers view for you😊 Comment from : @MGEriks858 |
