Absolutely awful in my opinion that the first port of call is ever drugs especially for minor mental struggles/depressive feelings, psychiatry should be a LAST resort, just shows how ignorant and misguided our western societies can be

I found out with my first appointment that they are more concerned with money than they are with the problems of their patience My whole experience with has been more stressful than my anxiety disorder Don’t go to them unless you are rich and can afford being charged $15000 at the drop of a hat

CBT has never worked for me, and I didn'T get why until I watched this video Telling me to think or feel differently than I do makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable, makes me shut down and crawl right back into my shell I know it's changed a lot of people's lives and has really good results but I guess I'm an outlier I am tired of people recommending CBT to me though even after I tell them it just doesn't work for me and never has, and most importantly, never will

The usual answer is antidepressant tablets, as that’s the first thing the doctor wants to prescribe, an easy option, to get you out the door ,I’ve never been a fan of medications, and rather find the root of the cause ,unfortunately when you say such words to a doctor ,it just seems to go over their head ,yes they do give you a help line number for cbt therapy, unfortunately the wait time for that is just ridiculous, and when you get to see someone, it will usually end up with some form of medication, a bit of a vicious circle ,so from the visit to your doctor ,and explaining your problems to a therapist, usually the outcome is just the same , medications, tbh I know people that have been on antidepressant tablets for years , and it seems once your prescribed them that’s it and get forgotten about, that’s just not right ,personally the doctors spend to much time calling patients back ,than actually seeing them ,the end of the day most people call the doctors to be seen and not to be Valuated if you actually need to be seen ,sometimes medications are given and sent to your pharmacist and this is prescribed on the information you give over the phone ,when I younger it was just the case of ringing up and booking an appointment ,that’s my rant 🤬
