One of my core beliefs is that a therapist should not use slang words excessively For example, "dude" Nor inject the filler word "like", over and over It sounds unprofessional and demonstrates nervousness As I watched the entire episode, I found the therapist's rate of speech, pitch and tenor rather annoying, creating a contraindication for the healing process, despite the relevant information she was imparting to the viewers Her attire was also provocative, potentially indicating a need for attention, perhaps of the wrong kind In essence, not a good example of a mental health professional I may be accused of transference The therapist also packed more than one question and it was obvious that the mock client was confused and did his best to address the multi-context idea What I appreciated was how psychoeducaation was effectively utilized in explaining how CBT works Particularly how core beliefs can be challenged when testing the limits of assumptions Otherwise, very good information Comment from : @hildakeskin5054 |

I know that a lot of people benefit from CBT but I had CBT to deal with my issues which are ADHD related and found that I came away from the sessions feeling triggered and angry and hopeless For me CBT was trying to fix issues that are linked to my neuro underdevelopment and so it was like saying, “well the engine isn’t working properly because one of the valves on one of the cylinders was bent and sticking open” So the solution that CBT seems to imply “well let’s look at what your deep issue is and …” what you discover is that your engine isn’t working So what do we do? CBT says … ok let’s challenge the fact that your engine isn’t working and let’s suggest “well if your engine was working how would that make you feel?” brIt’s clear to see that yes CBT can identify the root cause of your problem but if the problem is real and not just a state of mind ?
