I have experienced this both in the Navy as he describes and in the corporate and government realm This theory/fact supports my belief that you can teach expertise, but you have to be born a leader Comment from : @DSteve-i95 |
He's a great presenter, but has done nothing in his life Comment from : @orangewarm1 |

Sinek: "You better keep that person on your team"brbrMy employer: "But can we save money this quarter by firing that person and promoting toxicity?" Comment from : @jl8138 |
you can be the asshole and the most trusted though Comment from : @xsnipersgox |

Все видели пожары в США которые являются отличной иллюстрацией Набрали тех кому доверяют вместо тех кто компетентен Comment from : @POLITICS_IDEOLOGY_SOCIAL-fu5yl |

So he says the super educated know it all is somewhat toxic and the medium educated, decent guy who might not be the smartest is a better bet, tends to by more loyal in the end? Comment from : @Tightwork025 |

How do you measure trust? My name, my face, my religion ? Will you hire me if I look more charismatic ? Comment from : @ACRO59 |

Brilliant stuff and dealing with this one issue can transform a team and lead to great success Ignoring it will rip your team apart Comment from : @conorphillips333 |

Very well presented Thank you! Comment from : @RAUDI512 |

Ultra-biased idea! People don't trust foreigners or people with an accent or people they can't relate to, in this day and age, this is a very biased and downright wrong chat! Comment from : @ellaakt6998 |

I was a deep sea diver for many years, and ultimately, in charge of very large subsea construction projects in the oil & gas industry I learned very early on that the diver who treated the young apprentice divers with the least respect is also ALWAYS the shittiest diver on the crew Comment from : @divernathan |

The seal is INSANE how paradoxical but accurate this is, and to use "asshole" was on point Comment from : @GustavoSilva-ny8jc |

Legit! Comment from : @arrow1042 |

One thing that I cannot understand from this: how being asshole and someone you trust cannot be the same person? I mean English is not my native, but I am and asshole (harsh, mean) but in the same time as far as I can tell I got everyone's back and they can count on me And my colleagues do! So got a bit mixed message here I cannot decipher Comment from : @MLMariss |

In business there’s a lot of high performers and low trust I learnt the hard way Comment from : @CaptainSugarToes |

If we start measuring trust, we’ll just create a bizarre new set of pathological corporate/bureaucratic behaviors Trust is too important to turn over to McKinsey Comment from : @RickWeberEcon |
Lmao try harder Comment from : @minhucle9593 |
Have you ever tried to ask to a high performance percieved as a untrustful to create trust in first place? Because maybe just maybe you are leaving behind a really good worker who doesn’t know what you need Because this talk gave me this bad feeling of missing a good singer that is amazing just the people producing his records are considering him/her difficult or whatever That happened to Kathy Perry, for instance Just keep in mind that sometimes when your are judging the trustfulness you could be wrong Comment from : @claudiacornejo8583 |
Saw TopGun Maverick yesterday - and Hangman and this came to mind Good pilot but not a leader or one that I would trust Comment from : @hakansoderholm6514 |
So smart Makes sense We are human beings not robots Trust over performance Comment from : @dudoklasovity2093 |
"You'd better keep them on your team" I think this contradicts the entire presentation I think you meant to say "You'd better promote them out of your team" Comment from : @SuperLabeled |
Bra You make so'oo high simple high knowledge simple, so very simple ✊🏾☝🏾💎✔️📖🗝️🧨 Comment from : @mymechanicfriend6017 |

Profound! The trust part is more complex and can be more personal, but building trust has a lot of factors, of which I''ve remembered these five: Competence, Commitment, Caring, Benevolence, and Predictability Comment from : @shepatown |

I run a specialised business in a remote community and can never find skilled staff A few years ago I stopped employing on skill levels and just employed the best PEOPLE I could Business has boomed ever since and in the worst skills shortage since WW2 I have maintained full staff levels at all times, with incredibly low staff turnover It works Comment from : @PaulBKal |

The best ever Comment from : @labmehmeti |

This is why at our work they measure our bonuses based on metrics it is easy to cheat on Also our QAs are based on meaningless box checking So you can have someone who is polite on the phone, shitty at their job as they speed through accounts that the rest of us have to fix later on And we wonder why we are 1-2 weeks behind in accounts we manage Because the high performers are not really performing highly They are merely performing quickly Leaving the rest of us who take the time to do it right to suffer in the middle of the bonus rankings, doing most of the work correctly I love my job but I have recently decided it may be time to leave I refuse to work for an employer that rewards poor work ethic Comment from : @SophiaAphrodite |
Top! Comment from : @CroatiaonpalmStjepan |
Leave a job because of toxic workplace, however those toxic colleagues get promotion eventually because of their high performance, that is when you know it is not a good company worth staying anymore Comment from : @SamCheung-jz8bu |
Very dangerous idea imo So in addition to the RIDICULOUS AMOUNT of control put on Americans, now you want to what? Monitor them at lunch to make sure they're well liked as well? Critical thinking folks Communism sounds good too in a lecture hall Now if you want to base this on hiring, good luck that you can spot the "trustworthy" candidate You're not that gifted Comment from : @scottcoachlife5443 |

Starbuck vs Apollo Battlestar Galactica Comment from : @mystdragon8530 |

I'd like to weigh in, but I'lll ask Mr Sinek to engage me in this discussionif he'd like to learn a thing or two :) Comment from : @cvshomedesign |
As a self identified MPHT manager this is so relatable I find as I continue my mission the greatest threat is fellow managers trying to let you fail ‘I’ll show him’, or workers who will take advantage of your high trusting environment The cream, however, will readily rise to the top Comment from : @MrWonny1986 |
Ageed Comment from : @hamuni81 |

And usually, but not always, those people with low trust are extroverts, because they dont longterm bond with people Introverts who bond longterm have more trust brbrJust my own experiment ❤brbrI would give my money and everything to a introvert but not an extrovert, who might "forget" whose money is that Introvert would never accidentally "forget" Comment from : @happohajotus |
Big facts Comment from : @xMiMiCx711 |
I love how people throw out “I worked with the teams” as a way to splash some sort of street credit to those gullible enough to believe that Don’t know how the teams had time to go on missions with all these consultants meeting with them Comment from : @abesaviation |
I have a boss who is a sharp, smart, and cunning business womanbrbrShe’s one of the sharpest woman I’ve ever worked with…but I will absolutely throw her under the bus given the chancebrbrEvery chance she gets she’s always bad mouthing someone, always using intimidation and thinly veiled threats to get you to perform, and criticizing your every move despite it not being related to your performance or even criticalbrbrShe’s a top tier performer but her character is just bottom of the barrel Comment from : @steverogers7601 |

The AHs are often also sycophants, kissing up to the bosses and “punching down” to use Adam Grant’s term The best people to identify the AHs, are those at a lower level in the organization Comment from : @Carlos72797 |
People laughed, but oh boy…how often would they look themselves in the mirror and question of themselves? Comment from : @SwornReaper |
This is great and all but it sort of implies that a person’s performance and trustworthiness is fixed Culture, ie the effect of other people in the organization, plays a significant role, and I would think Simon would be the first to point that out Comment from : @MusicAutomation |
👏 Comment from : @PaulRezaei |

I worked for a company called Cellular Sales in Roanoke Virginia, our team was exactly like that! The assholes running the place would make the world a better place if they committed suicide, but they could sell you your own shoes A guy named Ross Agee, was the most trust worthy person i'd ever met but wasn't the best salesman Absolute truth here!!! Comment from : @Illisil |
Abuse able vs Abuse resistant)))) Comment from : @Alex_Short |

Modern corporations destroy the trustworthy people I left the corporate world Toxic as hell While I was working there a number of people thought I was their manager and didn't even seem to know who their real manager was after being there for almost 2 months This was in what is considered a top tech company A joke So happy with my new change of career Comment from : @Antonocon |

That's the way it is Comment from : @Appahari-5 |

I managed engineering and technical organizations for 30 years and I agree with him I combined performance and trust into respect You don't respect an asshole How could you learn if you could trust someone? You asked them a question to which you knew the answer You could trust them if they were truthful or even said they didn't know, but not if they spun a yarn Comment from : @tonyhladun9081 |
This is what David Brent referred to years ago when he said: ‚I can show you a graph of trust vs performance…‘ I knew he was a genius Comment from : @harter6082 |
