Based on personal experience, I would say the better option is investing in Index funds in 401k due to lower fees Large, Mid-Cap, Small, International and Bond If you want to be more aggressive, replace Bond with REIT and Company Stock Comment from : @isaiahdillard4598 |
Thank you so much for what you do 🙏🏽 Comment from : @annadavis6361 |

With so many choices—stocks, bonds, mutual funds—it’s tough I’ve heard that a good mix is essential, but figuring out that mix is the tricky part Comment from : @roseyfischer |

Just started a new job, got enrolled with my 401k today & chose this exact fund for 2055 Was unsure if that was the best choice! Comment from : @TheMia_W |
I was talking to some people about this and they said that it isn't the best option because if minimal returns Comment from : @Mizzou58 |
Skip the target date funds due to expense ratios Find the SP500 Index equivalent and pick that If you're young, you can split some off into a large cap growth option and call it a day Target date funds will take a lot of your money just to move money over to bonds over time Comment from : @logicalmisery3737 |
Target date funds grow extremely slow I wouldn't advise doing this at all Comment from : @KINGRAHIM1 |
What about expense ratios ? Shall we look for the lowest Comment from : @Snickersmom |
This isn't bad advice, but I wouldn't dismiss options for growth or total market funds if you are young The returns are generally better and the expense ratio is usually lower Comment from : @UniquelyCritical |
VFIAX is the only one I’d take on that list because you’ll blow a target date fund out of the water over multiple decades Comment from : @reaper-sz5tm |
I’m still overwhelmed and confused Help! New to adulting here 😅 I need the basics Comment from : @ladyyyKD |

You’d be better off putting your money in whatever low cost index your company offers that tracks the S&P 500 The rates will be much higher if you can stomach some volatility Comment from : @Givemegymtips |

Trash advice!brThis is not financial advice but the s&p has a 10 annual average return over the last 50-100 yrs A target option will put your money into cds and bonds the older you get that might get you a 4 return at best You will be alot richer doing some research and finding good stock index funds Comment from : @theadventuresofbriceandril5950 |
