I love the message, but in the few videos I have watched on this channel, I can't get past the riduculous number of books on the shelves Books on diplay are nothing but trophies to show off perceived intelect (not my original thought, but I think it's true) At least for me, it really casts a lot of doubt that this guy practices what he preeaches

As a 49 year old, two things have the “appearance” of immaturity-brbrAlways wearing black (Looks lazy)brAnd wearing shorts all 4 seasons brbrI’ve employeed several people who only wore black and instead of being a sign of “minimalist”, it’s a sure sign of lack of motivation and intention brbrIMO, it’s not a good sign

One of the best mininalist AND frugal things i have done is figure out how many different types of the same thing i was buying and see if i can use one for multiple purposes Like oil How many types of oil do we need? Spray oil, olive oil, butter, avocado oil, coconut oil at this point im down to two oils, and using up the olive oil and moving to just butter Same with soap I use dawn dish soap in my dishwasher now and it has worked just fine, sometimes better than the dishwasher specific soap I use Dawn in the bathroom foaming soap dispenser too We dont need as much as we think we need

I did a while ago find a specific brand of black socks and I have only bought that specific brand of And1 Walmart black socks Makes sock washing easy, also don't bundle them that wears them out faster and takes up extra space in the drawer, just fold them together

Another cost cutter: bidet brbrYou will use sooo much less toilet paper because you will use the water to clean yourself and one sheet of toilet paper can be used to dry yourself I loved them when living in Thailand for research and highly recommend

I'm not even (consciously) subscribing to minimalism, but I also don't buy any of those things, because they are, for the most part, a waste of time and energy I'll object only to three things in this video:br1 Tupperware is fine If you treat them alright, they also last a lifetime And Tupperware lids aren't any more prone to get lost than any more expensive lidbr2 DO get excited about things and buy what's necessary to follow that excitement Buy that amp if you want to play the guitar It doesn't have to be the most expensive one, but to never buy an amp, because that excitement might someday let up, is a waste of passion, it's missing out on the best part of lifebr3 If you do want to call yourself a minimalist, maybe don't wear all black all the time Unless you want to be caricature or you really, really like the colour black

Stoked you switched to barefoot shoes! Actually a frugal decision even for runners Most shoes last 500-700km but minimalist shoes last until you get a hole in them which usually occurs around 5000 or so km! So much less replacing

I bought a case of Kombucha drinks at Costco The empty glass bottles the drinks come in are the same size as the 169oz water bottles I store filtered water from my fridge in them and never have to buy bottled water again I can store them in a hot garage or car trunk, and not worry about plastic leaching into the water

Love your videos, and it's great seeing you grow out of trends as you mature I personally think that the black clothing one is great if you have no personality, but for normal people, mostly wearing black is not only boring, it contributes to depression after a while There's a reason people only wore pure black to funerals and for mourning in the past
