I get roughly the same accuracy from mine with 40gr CCI blazer and 40gr CCI Standard Velocity Target Comment from : @2ndHandReview |
have you tested the bx-15/bx-25 magazines with it? Comment from : @mtiger5 |
Fliers like that are the ammo In all of my 63 years, I have never had luck with Eley match I can shoot CCI Mini Mags better than Eley match Your rest is also awful For smaller forearmed guns, they shoot better off of bipods There is no side to side wobble when using bipods Plus the hand on top of the scope No good there either That rifle will do much better with the right ammo and a good shooter behind it Comment from : @pickin4you |
Check your stock screw Sometimes if it's too loose or too tight it can cause those flyers Comment from : @A5JDZK |
Nope would not be happy with that I have a $9900 Rossi that shoots better than that Comment from : @armedfarm3429 |
Great video, Josh Nice to see a review of some less expensive equipment I’ve had mine for over five years now and absolutely love it Have it sighted in at fifty yards and with Aguila super extra copper plated hollow points can shoot 4” groups, consistently Bolt action is smooth, trigger is good Love it! Comment from : @willibe6358 |
was the trigger good? Comment from : @Discotex100 |
At what distance and what ammo? Comment from : @kevinlaw6191 |

Hello, I live in Southern California and purchased a ruger 22lr bolt action for my 12yo daughter It takes a standard 10/22 rotary mag (same as her magnumlight) it’s very hard for her to cycle the bolt Is this normal? Is there anything I can do? Thanks Comment from : @warren6172 |
My opinion you are spot on great video very honest Comment from : @chuckydubree1925 |
Does it use 10/22 barrels? Comment from : @BeefaloBart |
35ip on tourqe, helped but not as accurate as my 10-22 green mountain Comment from : @Whitchhunter666 |
Scope triple the gun Comment from : @yoho1021 |
Questions about the scope Would you prefer a big objective lens for a 22lr more than any other caliber? I feel big recoil rifles bang the bottom of the scope and possibly lose zero Comment from : @steveniedowicz8335 |
strangely, my marlin 795 with cci minimag got similar groups at 50 yards and it cost $140 Comment from : @yourleftnut814 |
Savage definately outshoots it Its just collecting dust at this point for me Comment from : @THGOklahoma |
Is there any aftermarket stocks like a boyed at one ??😊 Comment from : @stevenmcmillen6471 |
Quick and simple, thanks for the time you saved me, good video Comment from : @69mwhite |
Umm that scope is way too much for 22 lr Comment from : @ryleymcmullin8913 |
what type of mag is it? Comment from : @mb9074 |
Is the Predator a current model? I don't see this rifle listed on the Ruger website What's the difference between a Predator and regular? Comment from : @dustinschultz5770 |
The savages shoot, but those mags are their weak point Comment from : @jonenglish6617 |
What a poor man’s shoot off Comment from : @chrisgrignon3877 |
If it will do that on the regularnot bad I would suggest checking to see if the bullets are being damaged during feeding Comment from : @haroldwaggoner9875 |

I purchased one about 2 weeks ago and only went to my local range to sight in an inexpensive scope I picked up from there as well I have to say I love the rifle and enjoyed shooting it I hope to go to an outdoor range and push it a little further Comment from : @Me6739 |
The random flyer is prob just the ammunition Typical 22lr ammo Comment from : @Thatbcyota |
Good video, I wonder if the target model would shoot better/more consistent since it is supposedly bedded eg Ruger American model 8367?? Comment from : @Rockrewls |
as a left eye dominant shooter do you think i should get left or right bolt gun, seems like the perpetually out of stock 457 left hand and b14r are only left handed options not going over 2k Comment from : @coal_tactical |
this is around $800 in philippines 🤣🤣 Comment from : @CebuGraphics |
The sauvage will out shoot it? What does that mean? More accurate? Comment from : @Larimuss |

I have the same rifle in 22wmr I tried multiple brands/weights of ammo, all cycled fine I found the CCI 40gran HP Varmit held the tightest groups, placing 15 rounds in a 15" group at 100yards Comment from : @rayluse744 |
Thanks for reviewing some equipment that’s a lower price point!brFrom what I can see they go for closer for $400 in my area This isn’t a big deal but since it’s closer to that higher price point it which makes the cz more attractive IMO Comment from : @lonely_crow |
The problem is that rotary magazine Comment from : @losoj30 |
Great rifle for $300 Lot's of Love from the American Hillbilly and Hillbilly Nation, Hillbilly Up Comment from : @HillbillyUp |
I've been on an old 22riflekick Love the old actions An $84 RS22 got me started No 22 as a kid, H&R 12 Ga, at 14 22's were for wimps, I was an idiot Comment from : @gorvlivin |
Good accuracy for a 300 dollar rifle Comment from : @haroldwaggoner9875 |
Mine does well with Fed auto match and Aguila Still not as good as my 452 CZ but fine for a squirrel hunt Comment from : @aircommando505 |
I appreciate your videos, great content I think it would be cool if you reviewed some older vintage 22lr target rifles like Winchester, Remington, Mossberg, etc Compare them to the newer rifles Comment from : @jasonlevernier9819 |
we bought one for the kids to use for our NRL club and thought it was the best buy and smoother action over the savage, did you adjust the trigger? Comment from : @Picit13 |
It's well made and accurate for the price, I've seen videos of guys doing things to improve accuracy on these rifles like installing timney triggers and taping the bidding blocks with aluminum duck tape to increase the contact surface for better bidding Comment from : @nadermilite5652 |
I have a Savage FVSR 22 in a Boyds stock no alterations It shoots like a 300 dollar gun Best I ever did was with Federal HV Match at 100 yards I wasted plenty of Lapua, SK, RWS trying to shoot this thing accurately or lets say like a target rifle I would get those fliers sometimes completely into a different zip code and I don't understand why I will say one thing though it feeds and ejects better than a 1600 dollar Anschutz 64 I had especially the ejecting When I go plinking it's the one I take and don't care what I shoot in it Comment from : @perdidocamaronero5400 |
Honestly not bad for what it is Comment from : @rossarnett8079 |
I have one of these in 22WMR Absolute laser @ 50 meters Comment from : @angrytrek |
Hey josh what rear bag are you using, I see you use it on all your videos, whatever is inside must be good Comment from : @reygarzajr7761 |
300 bucks? Absolutely 300 dollars is a weeks worth of groceries now So I’d say the Ruger is cheap But just a tad more and you could go with a sporter or even a stainless sporter Which will probably be my kids first rifle Nice channel man! Comment from : @digitalgoonie |
I considered one but thought if I ever wanted to upgrade the barrel it wouldn't be the way to go Comment from : @rustynut1967 |
Can you test the savage mark ii fv sr Comment from : @mikes8915 |
Savage mark ii minimalist way better stock way better fit and finish better accuracy yea mags do kinda suck Comment from : @mikes8915 |
I had one of these - i sold it again lol - the best accuracy i could get out of it was with SK Match - maybe MOA at 50Y - its nice and lightweight and probably a good plinker for rabbits - the barrel will rust easy so needs to be inside and always lubed - the chamber and barrel are “loose” so you can put any 22 rounds through it - i also run a CZ22 - they have tight barrels and chambers and the accuracy is heaps better Comment from : @bluekats777 |
Josh! I would really like you to do a video of you going over the Arca lock system and bipods you run specifically And the arca rails you run I have Harris bipods and I haven’t seen any videos on the assembly on how you make them attach to the arca system Comment from : @hunterking94 |
Great Video Josh!! Thanks for throwing in a video for the starter market It helps grow the sport Comment from : @dennisholle1005 |
awesome man!!!! looks like im gonna have to pick this one up Comment from : @Lowballinoutdoorz |
Had 2 of them One shoots like a laser and the other is a tomato stake and that’s too much praise Comment from : @donaldferguson5637 |
Great video I generally agree with your overall conclusion! Ruger makes nicer guns than savage but savage are typically more accurate Comment from : @gamergeek8933 |
Just wondering if you encounter parallax issues using that scope on a 22LR Great channel Comment from : @gregoryl869 |
PERFECT !! Thanks for the show & tell Comment from : @biggiet1041 |
Josh, just curious as to what triggers you use and if they are single or 2 stage Comment from : @scottluther6699 |
I've got one for squirrels, light, accurate enough to 50yds It'll work for the money Comment from : @jamestboehm6450 |
Good shooting, JoshbrIf Only Ruger would offer a BX-style trigger over the “razor blade” they would have set themselves apart from Savage Unfortunately, if you upgrade to a Timney the Tikka or CZ starts to make better sensebrJust saying Comment from : @raystephens2078 |
Needs a mcarbo trigger spring to reduce trigger pull Comment from : @edwardh1591 |
Great video Josh I do believe that is a very nice starter rifle One thing your rifle might need to shoot better, is bedding the rifle Comment from : @biagiocozza8875 |
Perfect little gun for a hobbit! Lol cool video Comment from : @midwest_long_range |
Great video Four years ago, I brought the American in 22lr, and I am amazed how well it shoots at 100 yards with cheap bulk Federal 40 g ammo subsonic It's not as tight as my Tikka T1x or the CZ457, but WTH It is my go-to rifle I did replace the stock with Boyd's laminated rapid sale stock I just love it Thank you for sharing! Comment from : @gibstera5580 |
Great video This is a great rifle to start with I have one just like it that shoots4 with a batch of SK Rifle Match Mine came with no trigger spring and has 15 oz pull Not a bad trigger Comment from : @terrybagby135 |
Great channel Josh it's great to see ordinary off the shelf rifles being reviewed I personally prefer that than your highly modified rifles I really liked the earlier reviews of the standard CZ527 MTR with different brands of ammo Comment from : @buncha5651 |
I was surprised by the groups What ammo did you use? Comment from : @cacinaz8802 |
