I stumbled across this video randomly I must confess I must disagree with you slightly when you say playing an acoustic and electric are roughly the same I started playing electric and when I played acoustic for the first time, I felt like I was starting from scratch The body of the acoustic is bigger so I had to adjust the way I hold the guitar and it took a lot more effort to push down on the strings to get a clean sound It may be just me but I find electric much easier

True beginner, I received my first guitar four days ago I tried playing this first note: middle finger on 2nd string on first fret, ring finger on third string on first fretbrTHE PROBLEM:brI can't seem to fit two fingers on one fret? Is this normal?brI chose a Strat style guitar, if that helps I also wear a size 14-145 ring, (almost an inch diameter)brThe middle finger and ring finger fight for space on the neck, while trying to not overlap onto the stringsbrDo you have any advice that would help me? I am 50 years old and when I was a child I was somewhat of a child Prodigy with the Piano Infact my parents even had my Instructor from the music conservatory fly to Germany to hand pick a Grotrian baby grand Piano for me and ship it back along with a few other pianos for some other students Anyway long story short We moved out of DC several years later and I ended up not continuing the Piano The Piano ended up being basically a talking piece in the living room lol and a few years after that we sold it So cut to now at 50 and I feel as if something is missing and I have always wanted to get back in to playing an instrument again never played a guitar before and picked up a pretty good electric acoustic at a pawn shop So I am taking in what you say on this video :) I hope you have more videos for me to watchl

This is great I taught myself to play around 20 years ago but I never progressed beyond simple bar chords and a few advanced-beginner songs (Stairway, etc) I've been meaning to go back and find a good curriculum and I really like your teaching style Time to get some new strings and dive back in!
