I see already knowing guitar is very helpful because the only thing I really need to change is the plucking and that’s a lot easier than learning everything about the fret board

Just bought my first bass today (1 March 2025) a Yamaha TRBX174 in translucent black A real beauty I wanted to get the Fender Rumble 40 bass amp you recommend but my local regional music store doesn't stock Fender, so I will wait until my next trip to the city I am playing unplugged for now Thanks for this effective and fun beginner lesson I will work my way through the restbrEat And Drink Gravy/Guac/Ginger/Grapefruit

Guitar player exiled to the bass because nobody wanted to play it (or had large enough hands for a Jazz bass) Modern bass players sound meh to me Bass should FILL the bottom, not the treble! Nashville doubled a guitar with a bass for a while for a fuller sound (kinda like the mariachi guitarron)!

I liked and subscribed when he asked me tobrbrI'm a trumpet player I studied in college and got pretty good (5 1/2 years yeehaw) I've had some things fall apart in life lately and I've come back to music at 33 I've been playing trumpet again and I've just gotten my first bass I chose bass because it's a monochromatic instrument rooted in harmony so it will help my theory chops and ears and groove and all that good shit Mostly I'm just looking forward to playing sabbath tunes I'll let you know how useful your shit is on my journey Thank you so much for your help man! I find that my plucking fingers create very different sound from each other My index is much brighter and a touch musically sharper, while my middle finger creates a more broad, round sound And my timing is all delayed and rushed and wonky Is there an exercise to practice correcting this?

Coming from guitar and picking up bass now Much easier on bass to actually get to the point of playing along with music, even if your not doing anything but playing the root notes, its still fun and sounds good!

10:07brbrFor a second I couldn't really hear the plucking because of the beat and got very confused onto the next step (I thought I was doing it very wrong, which I was mostly)brBut a bit after I could finally hear the plucking technique in the video brbrMaybe when you do these sort of videos you could take out the sound of the beat or lower it to help others My hearing is decent but if there's two things going on, I wanna know the part I need to focus more on :)

I’ve watched beginner tutorials for ukulele and guitar, but this bass tutorial hit differently Josh made me feel really comfortable as a beginner I think it’s because the video felt so down-to-earth compared to others Some tutorials can feel overwhelming or too intense, but this one was just great and not too complicated Perhaps the bass community is the chillest and I’m all here for it I’m excited to start on my bass journey :)
