My choice is a stratbrI have two and they are worlds different in sound from each other One has a very buttery smooth rock and roll distortion, and the other while having hotter pickups, excels in the mildly overdriven category and the clean tones are exquisite Picking either up is like a dream, but the first of the two mentioned has a more solid feel and has a smoother finish cold to the touch The latter feels softer and has deluxe trem A maple neck on any strat for me is an absolute must have So much faster neck for me, but some people would prefer rosewood

Despite being a strat guy, i 100 agree Just made my cheapest guitar (squier affinity tele) in the fleet of 25 guitars my primary gig machine it does everything i need it to and its so cheap i can abuse it with no regrets

I was gifted a ‘73 Tele from my friends widow after he passed and I don’t even touch any of my other electrics now because it continually blows me away with playability, monster tone and staying in tune I only pick up my strat next to my chair upstairs to noodle on unplugged when watching tv My first tele and at ‘73 I should have been slapped into next year for being stupid

I own three electric guitars a Epiphone Les Paul Jr and ES 335 and a Fender Telecaster(actually a parts caster) all great guitars but I still have discover all of the tones the Tele gives me… In short I think your assessment is spot on it it is a very versatile guitar
