As a veteran who frequently attends emergency rooms, I cant stress enough how important the 72 hour notice is Have your spouse, parent, or very trusted friend call the line and notify them I failed to do this after a really bad emergency that ended up with me getting admitted for 23 days I notified them when I got out of the hospital about the visit and ended up getting a bill for the emergency room part only for about 2300 dollars (after they already paid the hospital over 350k lol) It took me 18 months and a very cooperative hospital billing department to fight to have the ER visit covered without them sending the bill to collections All because i missed the 72 hour notification window Save yourself this headache! Great video - to the point and covers them all brbrAs far as state benefits, one more thing you could make your viewers aware of is that there are states that offer a one time "bonus" for service during Desert Storm/OIF/OEF It's not a disability claim, just a one time payment from the state paying you for your service during conflict periods Not a huge bonus, most seem to cap between $600 or $1200 The kicker is that they will pay it even if you did not serve in theater - lower rate, but still $600 is $600 So basically if you served after 2001, you will likely be eligible even if you never deployed in theater brbrEach state has different deadlines and residency requirements For example, OH requires you to have joined from OH and be a current resident of OH VA just required you to have had VA as your home of record when you joined and no requirements on your current state of residence brbrPretty easy thing for your viewers to find out - just do a search on OIF/OEF bonus and both your current state as well as your home of record state when you joined - should take you to the official link for your state But states were as bad as the feds when it comes to publicizing this stuff and a lot of eligible vets are not aware Comment from : @kevinhendrix8786 |
