I’m about 130 pounds and at 5 foot and 9 inches My father in law gave me his old cruiser recently it’s an 09 Honda Shadow 750 aero Right after I get a new battery for it, drain and replace the oil and oil filter I plan to go and learn on it so I’m very interested to see the steps you take as a completely green rider

All people trying to get on a motorcycle, take the safety class You will by-pass the DMV driving test and you will learn the basics and how to stay alive Always wear protective gear! falling down is not fan, and believe me it will happen at least once in your life time

I’m not hating on you , but starting off with no experience on a Harley is not a good idea, you need to get a dirt bike and learn how to control a motorcycle before having to deal with traffic and idiots on the road, besides, dirt bikes are FUN, but hats off to you

At least you're starting on a Rebel, which they are super new rider friendly I always go for full-face helmets because I love my face too much And i love my arms and skin in general, so maybe get some protective gear I wasn't smart in my purchase and went for a ninja 650 engine instead of something with less power But I've never crashed, so I'm lucky 😂

That brings back memories I bought my first at age 52, four days after my youngest kid graduated from high school and I figured I was expendable It was a month before I wasn't surprised that I made it back home brbrNow 16 years later I have around 250K miles under my belt I've dropped my bike plenty of times but never had a wreckbrbrI've also taken eleven coached safety courses I recommend one a year for at least the first five years, and maybe every other year after that

All the bikes I have ever ridden and for 50 years of riding, Ive not yet locked up the front brake, lots of modern bikes have ABS so you will never lock up a front brake

I started by learning on a 125cc scooter which contrary to the popular belief locally is not safer than a bike because it has lesser tyre contact on road, lesser effective shocks and much smaller wheel Ofcourse you can always get better tyres and suspension but still better off getting a 125cc bike So, you did a wise decision jumping on a 300 brbrI would love to grab a Royal Enfield Scram 440 which was just announced this month Or maybe wait for the 2025 Scrambler 400x

3:30brRear brake IS your main brake Front brake is for emergency brakes AFTER the rear brake brgiving out false training

On a cruiser bike it would probably be more than 35 on the rear brake and 65 to 70 on the front brake on a sport bike your numbers would’ve been correct

I bought one as well and never rode @ 70 , took the msf coarse @ Harley Davidson now have my motorcycle license and over a thousand miles Many hours of practice in the driveway & parking lot @ the mall , watching many YouTube videos also , now am very comfortable riding and feel like I been riding my whole life all within a 2 month period … practice practice practice is the key and watch many YouTube videos

if a person can ride a bicycle they will learn motorcycle pretty easy once remembering the clutch and how to brake properly and als remember to put a leg down when stoping after wha tmay feel like a long ride I learned whe n Iwas a bout 7 years old mind you it was none street whic hnow days wit hal the bad drivers out there can be dangerous and of course the tempations tha tcome with the motorcycle lolbroh and by the way you dont need to use the clutch is the engine isnt running to change gears into neutral ;) and aslo a great habit is to start the engine with the clutch engaged it's a really good habit to do branother thigns is since you have log hiar I used t oas a male have long hair put it in your jacket because it started t otwist and turn when riding and combing or brushing it out is a real hassle lol

Eventually you are going to crash You chance of survival increases greatly if you are off road As others have stated ,gloves, full face helmet with a shield, riding gloves, jacket and pants with armor Please remember that cars can't see you In an accident they will walk away while you will ride in an ambulance Ride as if no one can see you

Great video! I just bought a used Vulcan 900 2008 today with 5562 miles on it! It is red and in perfect condition they barely rode the thing!!!! I paid 1800 bucks for it! Had my license for over 34 years and I never got a bike cuz I was married to a hater and now the kids are grown and I can do me!!! I am nervous and exited! My friend is gonna pick it up for me bcuz I am not ready for any highways yet!

Damn that's so gnarly I want a biker chick 🤘🤣🔥 brbrI wanted a bike since i was a teenager At that time my mom didn't want me to have one said I'd get hurt My dad use to have one a triumph and he spilled it in his 20s Got scared and sold it Said i cant have one Fast forward to me being 27 to 33 yrs old and my ex wife of 13 yrs said she didnt want me to have one Its dangerous etc 🙄 plus my mom, plus my exs kid saying no I'll get hurt blah blah brbrNow that im a single guy, ive started driving standard sports cars when i was 19 for a few years so i know all about clutches and shifting, just different ways on a bike and i want one so bad I got my eye on a chopper or a street bike Honda CBR 600 maybe RR or the F4i version Not letting people hold me back I'll be 41 sept 27th and its currently sept 10th 2024 I think it's time i start getting MYSELF things i want for a change 🤘🤣🔥
