@paparalph4
Bought my first bike 5yrs ago for my 66th birthday A 2004 Harley Heritage with 54k mi on it for $4900 I learned to ride it and do most of the work on it myself I have today parked it for the winter with 122k mi on it Just looked in the cylinder heads and still have cross hatching so I'm not opening that up I have rebuilt the carb, replaced clutch plates, cam and primary chain tensioners I install new tires every season along with wheel bearings Still use conventional oil every 3k mi Guess I'm getting my monies worth
Comment from : @paparalph4

@Vapourwear
It often surprises me how few miles on an odo Americans regard as “high…” until I remember how terrifying they are to drive/ride around and it all makes sense
Comment from : @Vapourwear

@briancapps7593
Honda and Yamaha sport bikes will literally last forever i have 42k on an Fz09, and it runs like new, like can still pull wheelies in the first 3 gears brbrbut ive also used Amsoil in it since it was brand new

@thelifenonadic
Engines are engines They wear primarily based on load This is on an exponential scale with operating temperature Once warm, RPM itself is fairly negligible to wear given good oil, cooling, timing OEM's actually have data available on the subject Really let's you feel a lot less weary of properly using an engine to its potential
Comment from : @thelifenonadic

@stevecalovich3682
I got my 2019 Honda CBR 650R in 2022 with 2378 miles on it Bought it from a reputable Dealer

@vikingkombat9389
No such thing as high milage as long as it seems to be taken care of maintenance-wise brMiles means it has been a good workhorse and deserves respect
Comment from : @vikingkombat9389

@frederickjeremy
I have a 2010 dr650 with 22,000 miles, and a 2006 fatboy with 58,000 miles Both run and operate good as new aside from asthetics like sun faded cable sheaths and the typical paint eat up around the master cylinder’s on the harley from brake fluid around the caps My dad has a 2010 ultraclassic with just shy of 200,000 miles It has had a few small issues over those miles,warped front brake rotors, fuel pump went out around 150,000, other than that it has not had to be worked on other than basic maintenance Results may vary wildly from owner to owner tho It just amazes me do many people think a bike with 8,000 miles on it is just absolutely wore slap out just because many people quit riding them after the novelty and brand newness wears off
Comment from : @frederickjeremy

@firstinlastout
Thanks for the video A small motorcycle dealership near me is selling a 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 classic with 13,384 miles for 3,999 Is this a good value or too good to be true? Thank you!
Comment from : @firstinlastout

@ReaversRespite
For my last 2 purchases I've had such great deals on "New Old Stock" or Demos So good that I couldn't justify a used equivalent
Comment from : @ReaversRespite

@garyhoward2490

Comment from : @FredNouvertne

@lespearson3801
My 1st bike was a 1980 shovelhead I got it with 85k miles on it I rode the wheels off of it for 24 years The speedo broke at 385k miles I have no idea how many miles were on it when I sold it to a buddy for $2000br All I ever had to do to it was replace everything one weekend at a time for 24 years It didn't seem like much effort at the time, but looking back, it occurred to me that I pretty much sold my buddy a completely different bike in the frame and cases I bought 24 year earlier
Comment from : @lespearson3801

@Twerkulies
My 2010 CBR600 was bought brand new from the dealership It had 9 miles on it when I bought it, and 7 of those were my test ride Still have it 14 years later with nearly 550k miles on it Still purrs like a kitten Still ride it almost every day to commute 45mi to work
Comment from : @Twerkulies

@chrisperry3525
here in PA high mileage bikes (over 20k) is rare other than some harleys or touring bikes I just got a 1998 sportster with 11,000 miles on it bike is like new other than chrome needs a good polishingbrbrUsed sport bikes are scary bad usuallyworked in a bike dealership fr 12 years, don't think we ever accepted one on tradeworn chain/sprockets, banged up plastic, etc
Comment from : @chrisperry3525

@troyholland3436
I just got a Suzuki gs500 2009 just hit 20k miles would you say that’s high?
Comment from : @troyholland3436

@eliinthewolverinestate6729
My used motorcycle has been blowing headlights Come to find out it's a sign of a failing voltage regulator
Comment from : @eliinthewolverinestate6729

@davidphillips7255
I would look for a well maintained Honda 100,000 miles on a Honda 500 twin is no big deal if it's had the oil changed regular Those bikes are purposely detuned to meet the 47 HP A2 new rider standard in Europe They are monumentally overbuilt and under stressed My plan 'B' would be a Suzuki V-Strom, especially the 1000 It's not uncommon to see those bikes with hundreds of thousands of miles One thing that would put me off are riders who have 'improved' their bikes with a high flow K&N filter If frequently cleaned and maintained they can be ok, but a dry ignored K&N does nothing Most folks ignore them Even if it seems ok, that motor will have sucked in needless crap
Comment from : @davidphillips7255

@Engineersoldinterstingstuff
Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki will go forever Even the sport bikes will go 40000 miles if serviced properly Currently have a GSX-R1100 -86 and a Thundercat 600 -96 Kawasaki is ok German and Italian bikes I would stay away from quality wise American motorcycles I have no knowledge about
Comment from : @Engineersoldinterstingstuff

@martinpolach6171
110,000 on a KLR Never winterized it ( old gas in spring!)…Starts every year and I can fix it with a hammer
Comment from : @martinpolach6171

@brentbauer8258
Have an 85 Honda vf750f interceptor…60000km with no hesitation it will make 100000km with simple maintenance
Comment from : @brentbauer8258

@simaspavao3231
With a good honest mechanic high kilometers doesnt real mean nothinghigh garage door rates is why people end up buying new and not fixing slightly worn bikes and cars
Comment from : @simaspavao3231

@OEFarredondo
2000 Roadking with 60k last friday tell you if it explodes by next friday
Comment from : @OEFarredondo

@ChadWinters
Im amazed by the number of 20,000 dollar motorcycles, 10-20 years old with less than 5K miles on the odometer
Comment from : @ChadWinters

@ReinerBoehme-f7o
Forgot to mention I have a full and complete maintenance record for it
Comment from : @ReinerBoehme-f7o

@ReinerBoehme-f7o
Have a 2004 Yamaha VMax It has 56k miles on it I have babied this bike and loved it I have owned it for approx 10 years I have kept it clean and maintained it The tires are in great shape It has never been laid down I have a small scrape on one of the pipes It has the usual wear that a bike has that has been ridden I ride it about once to twice a week to keep the fluids current With the miles that I mentioned it has on it, what would a good selling price be??
Comment from : @ReinerBoehme-f7o

@fb3824
How many miles is too many for a sport bike - it depends how that bike is ridden - if it's a big bore sports, and has had any easy life, well, it can still be a young motor
Comment from : @fb3824

@charliesmith9528
Im looking at buying a 2000 heritage with 51k miles,,lady driven,,looks new,,garage kept entire life,,is 51k miles too much
Comment from : @charliesmith9528

@FrancoM7747
I didn't hear displacement mentioned as a factor (unless I missed it) A 250 with 10k miles isn't the same as a 1200 with 10k miles
Comment from : @FrancoM7747

Comment from : @javonbrandon

@billbonu1639
My friends son has a Honda 250 rebel with 150,000 on it and still runs great and he's constantly going 80 mph or whatever the top speed is
Comment from : @billbonu1639

@geraldscott4302
I have 124,000 miles on my bought new 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 I did have to pull the engine out once to replace the stator (actually I had the original stator rewound) and I had to replace the defective design automatic cam chain tensioners with manual tensioners Other than that, just routine maintenance But I don't think it is going to go much farther The cam chains (it has four of them) are badly worn I no longer ride it more than 25-30 miles from home Fortunately I have an almost like new 2006 Harley Sportster 1200L with only 8100 miles on it that I bought back in 2018 It should last me the rest of my riding life
Comment from : @geraldscott4302

@davidlcolburn7745
Are we turning the throttle the wrong way? All new riders accelerate as they crash!
Comment from : @davidlcolburn7745

@aikidragonpiper71
I’ve got 54,000 miles on my retro sport 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R Still runs great There are plenty of ZRX bikes out there with over 100,000 miles

Comment from : @davebarnes6672

@jagco2594
suzuki 1400 boulevard S83 I bought with 55000 miles on it $1200 I paid for it I put on it so far 6200 miles motor runs great When I bought it did not run Parts needed, battery, rotors, brakes, dia-comp switch, carbs clean badly, When the seller ran the ad they put newer pictures and listed as driven 10000 miles The bike was dirty a lot of cleaning They wanted $1500 I almost had it ship to me When I got there and seen the bike I was not to happy So from 1500 down to 1200 and repairs cost $34500
Comment from : @jagco2594

@Sal-tripin

@mygolfballsannoy
All mine had over 100,000 miles 70’s 80’s bikes rode over 500,000 miles in my short riding career
Comment from : @mygolfballsannoy

@chrisdadigger1018
Sport bikes can log as many miles as your gold wing But many of those riders abuse those bikes Burnouts constantly bouncing of rev limiter
Comment from : @chrisdadigger1018

@chrisdadigger1018
I’d rather buy a used motorcycle that was ridden and maintained regularly with high miles that one that was sitting untouched for years at a time
Comment from : @chrisdadigger1018

@CrypticApathy
Mileage is 100 dependent on the owners brbrA sports bike that has had proper fluid changes, and valve adjustments will last you a really long time brbrA cruiser that hasnt been properly maintained will fail
Comment from : @CrypticApathy

@kybourbonboy
Turned 50,000 this week on my 2017 Indian Scout I'm shooting for 100k but at my age (71) it's no guarantee I'll out last the bike

Comment from : @sinnataggen78

@brianperry
Using a pressure washer on or near wheel bearings isn't the best thing to do when cleaning your pride and Joy
Comment from : @brianperry

@clay1883
For a Harley, high miles without a valve job would be 35K High miles for a Gold Wing, about 250K
Comment from : @clay1883

@JR-bj3uf
My bikes mostly come in boxes and the occasional styrofoam ice chest They are better when you build em yourself
Comment from : @JR-bj3uf

@lenzielenski3276
What a waste of time and bandwidth How many are a lot "well, it depends" No s*** How about a breakdown off road, cruiser, sport, touring and miles per year vs total average life (before major rebuild) That would be useful information Your rambling is just a HUGE WASTE OF TIME
Comment from : @lenzielenski3276

@craig2Afreedom
Good advice I personally take care of my motorcycle very well No wheelies, no burn outs Haven’t dropped it, yet Lol Anyway, if I were to sell I agree cash in hand before you test ride it You crash it you own it No cash, no ride My insurance company will not insure anyone including my wife Only the owner Thus is why I need cash The buyer takes the risk Not me
Comment from : @craig2Afreedom

@janeprescott980
Seems like 6 of one half dozen of other the money will leave us one way or another Better to go last year's model and let dealership maintain itbrUnless you friends with mechanic
Comment from : @janeprescott980

@wskeyson3382
20K miles not maintained (3 hole oil changes etc) Is worse than 100K religiously maintained!
Comment from : @wskeyson3382

@heyoldtime8969
Ive been riding for 30 years and have bought 7 new bikes Always a new one thats my rule Because I know what I got
Comment from : @heyoldtime8969

@jamescampolo7824
I got lucky one time I looked at this bike, low mileage and showroom floor clean It had two problems, turning the bars was jerky and the clutch slipped Turned out that the seller was a maintenance freak and not a mechanic He over tightened everything I replaced the races and bearings in the tripple tree and adjusted the clutch and it was like a new bike
Comment from : @jamescampolo7824

@MsBakyamoneneng
You only need to visit a new motorcycle dealership once and see the out the door price to become a fan of used motorcycles
Comment from : @MsBakyamoneneng

@todayisagoodday5027
Would you buy a2020 zh2 from a dealer with 23k miles on it?
Comment from : @todayisagoodday5027

@oyeah6301
I’m wanting a 2009 GSXR1000 but it has 20k miles is this a good idea to purchase
Comment from : @oyeah6301

@dougbillman2333
Could have 500 hundred miles on it, but if you beat the bike up bad…
Comment from : @dougbillman2333

@dougbillman2333
Miles do not matter, it’s how it was taken care of……
Comment from : @dougbillman2333

@Bandit1one
My first bike is a Triumph Rocket 3 😮
Comment from : @Bandit1one

@mikefennema5561
It's all about how it has been ridden and maintained A bike that has been floged will have issues
Comment from : @mikefennema5561

@greghedrick1775
Harley all the way parts are always available other brands just don't have the Parts availability
