I’d say check out the BMW F800gt Not too sporty with a parallel twin but it looks the part, can go about 250ish miles on a tank and has all the bmw goodies at fraction of cost of the R1200RT or the K1600

This hasn't aged well Yammie I bought a naked based on this advice and added puig touring screen and shad panniers (face palm) and the wind is killer on long rides man you need an updated version of this video with the tiger 660/800 and the tracers etc also, no one in their right mind should ever buy a ktm or aprillia or the like, terrible investment Reliability needs to be a major factor especially when touring

Sport towing bikes are great, wind protection, all day riding, especially when it’s cold or wet more enclosed protecting the rider driver than adventure bike is unless it’s a GSA of any other adventure bike The wind is gonna get you so is the water

FJRs handle the dirt roads aswell I road around Australia to run mine in I encountered lots of road works and the bike just lapped it up I had to continuely tell myself that I not on a dirt bike 130khs fully loaded Easily one of the best motorcycle's ever, go for it

Lol hardly an angry Dad, just a 60 year old man who is able to enjoy all sorts of bikes but who doesn't have the money for a 'stupidly priced' bike (around $20,000) I would rather spend that kind of money on a vacation and give some to my 3 kids There are so many great used bikes out there I have a 2000 Zx6R for everyday riding that can still keep up with most of the squids and a 08 VFR for long distance touring 500 miles in a day is no problem for that bike and it can hold it's own in the twisties To each their own, but I am just happy to see younger riders as it seems like there are less bikes being ridden by them Price point and affordability is much more important than what you ride I never paid more than $4000 for a pristine used bike!

Touring cycles don't suck they're gearing sucks you can alleviate this by reducing the size of the rear drive plate by reducing its diameter you get more speed even though you are getting less torque you're not pulling your house you don't need 5,000 lb of torque turn some of that torque in the movement

I get you about the bulk and weight of these touring behemoths, but unfortunately your argument is redundant for those of us that have been cursed with short legs The actually comfortable ADVs have seat heights of 835-870mm, which is out of reach for a lot of us For lower seat heights of 820-835mm, you don’t get comfort on an ADV as you get the basic specs or smaller bikes Even the tallest tourers don’t get any taller than 820mm and most are much lower I stand to be corrected though…

I have a Honda VFR 1200F with 170 hp at 580 pounds in which I put in it 40k miles I'm afraid I have to disagree with this video This bike is amazing: I can keep up with guys on sports bikes and travel a lot I also ride this bike on my daily commute in a big city The only thing I wish this bike had is drive mode because sometimes it has way too much power But in general, I love it and it satisfies all my needs
