OK,, quick question WHY did you use the Orange Ceramic caps on some places and the Blue on the 1 place? what's the difference? does it matter? I have tons of the blue caps but not sure if I have the Titanium ones(Orange)

Very good initiative selling pcb'sbrbrI've done a bit of dabbling with the 386, myself and I find using a fairly small input cap like 10 - 50 nF to filter out some of the bass makes sense if you get issues with the bass clipping earlier than the mids and treble, or if you're using a small speaker element I don't know if you're already doing this, but you can stablise the dc offset better if you couple the inverting pin with a 220 nF cap instead of shorting it to ground JohnAudioTech has a pretty good circuit, if you're looking for inspiration for a v13brI think I went for about 12 or 15 nF in the input on mine, which gives me a cutoff at about 200Hz to compensate for the 45mm membrane brbrGood choice with the 10k pot for the gain, gives you a better range, since minimum gain with a 1k pot is 50xbrbrIf you find yourself looking for a bit more power or bass, the little gem configuration might be a good option It's two lm386s that are bridge coupled, so it allows about twice the output VegasCyclingFreak has a video on it I would definitely buy a few of those off you, if you make pcbs for them I'm currently looking at making one on vero

Nice I have a pre built lm386 that I got from china a few years back and I put together a 2 valve/tube pre amp board also from china I plan at some point in using them both in a home made guitar amp brI also have a 1953 philips disc jockey senior record player which I intend on turning into a guitar amp Also I plan on making a few guitar pedals and have bought loads of electronic components, germanium transistors, pedal enclosures etc I'm probably overdoing it with projects LOL

If i want to fit this into a guitar to use headphones, can i wire the audio output plug to power on the device, as opposed to the input? My input would be hard wired into the guitar, leaving the headphone plug to be my other choice

Hi – David – Just finished making and testing my Qrome amp Brilliant - worked first time! I’m really pleased with it as a project, and little practice amp I bought a 3” 8 ohm 30w speaker, and build a sturdy cab, so I think I’ve probably got the best out of it My only problems were – cost of shipping to UK, identifying correct resistors (although I did manage!), and could have done with a couple more jumper leads (although as you mention I could have soldered wires) The jumper leads work fine from socket to amp without soldering Cheers, all the best Terry

Afraid I know very little about electronics I notice you use a couple of different speakers in your builds You specify 3'', and 4 or 8 Ohm, but not what wattage I know ohms is important, but not sure about size or watts Could you tell me what the crucial specs are please? I'm not sure you check the comments, but i followed the instructions laid out in the vid When I plug my guitar into the amp, the LM386 chip gets very hot The led turns on but no sound is coming out of the speaker
