Yep that’s what I did I couldn’t decide so I ended up setting up a couple with lpvo/offset micro dots a couple with red dots with qd 3x magnifier one with an acog, w/12 o’clock mounted micro dot and 2 others setup with a 4-16x primary arms and a 4-14x primary arms Oh yea one and one more my sons has just a 2x primary arms glx prism

For the LPVO with a red dot sight on top of the scope setup, is it better to have the red dot on the side closer to your face or further away? I just got everything setup for mine and I have seen people do both setups so im wondering which one is better in terms of getting them zero'd in and for close quarters combat before i actually go to the range and sight everything in?

Just got a holographic sight for my 556 3 quick Questions; how far out are they usable realistically? When to change to Strike Eagle? An ex seal told me to put the angled red dot on the rail vs top of the scope in case the scope gets bumped Thoughts? Thanks

I agree with you on Iron sites, I do not know if common sense is implied so I would only add one idea to Iron sites, as I too stand by them in reliability: Train and be proficient with Iron sites as those of us in service did to a minimum of 300m Maybe overlooked the Holosun 510c? With solar capabilities is a great option Off of that, thank you and great presentation

I still run one of my ARs with carry handle irons and a 4x scope on the carry handle mount Serves the purpose You can use the irons through the mount Obviously I have more modern setups on other ARs but I always go back to my retro AR

For some this might be a dumb question But why would one gravitate to a smaller objective lens on a LPVO than a larger objective lens? I wear glasses and find these scopes harder to use The only thing I can think of is marginally less reflective glass

Why not the ACOG? You can put the red dot on top alsoand its more reliable than the LPVO Also lighter as well! Better sight picturejust curious why it wasn't considered!?brI could have sworn the Iron sights with a 35 ACOG with top mount RMRon a 145/16" barrelbasically the Marine's standard issue stuffwould have been one of the best setups for all situations!

For those with issues with red dot lenses fogging up transitioning when from automobile to outdoor ambient temps and humidity I fixed that by adding a set of retractable side angled iron sights Run about $14000 for the set For many older gunners with stigmatism red dots can be of huge help Transitioning from upright rifle position and rotating counter clockwise to a 30* angle to irons believe it or not feels very natural an easy while being an effective means of fast target acquisition at closer ranges Fogging problem solved

Question for the 556 carbine combining a scope with a red dot I like the red dot because I keep both eyes open With the 45 degree setup - does the scope get in the way of your left eye for field of view? I have also wondered that for magnifiers that flip to the side - can they be set to flip to the right, so they won't get in front of the left eye?

My guess is a red dot, compact, or classic long range scope can make use of the rail with markings for a return to zero fit ( Or close enough) brI can carry three scopes but not three rifles ( The show and tell layouts for the press and new FFL rules eliminate the desire for collections
