I'd like to see a "higher education" person make a perfectly even board out of a piece of lumber I love philosophy, literature etc but while they're still working on their master's degree (bachelor degrees are hardly enough to get a job), every factory in the area will demand my skill to operate an automated saw mill And it pays Want a well-paying job fast? I am going to be graduating with a bachelor's degree in physics The moment I get out I am going straight into trade school I picked the most rigorous STEM field there is, being akin to engineering but far more abstract, and I can assure everybody that there are zero payable jobs waiting for me when I leave university They always say to major in STEM, but they always seem to fail to mention the sheer amount of higher education necessary to be apparently "useful" to industry, let alone if you want to rot away in the ivory tower for the rest of your lifebrbrIf I knew what I know now at the age of 22 back when I was 18, I would have just bit the bullet and gone straight into trade school I would certainly be 80k dollars lighter in debt if I had done so

the reason it's called higher education is because you have to be high as a kite to believe that it's actually going to further you oh wait a minute it will further you will for the deeper into debt than you could ever have possibly imagined my niece salad her parents with over $70,000 worth of debt for her 18 months nursing course not even an RN just a CNA and she work that job for maybe a couple of years and yet as far as I can tell they're still paying on that debt to this day while she decided to forgo the whole working for a living thing and decided instead to find herself a man to enslave for the rest of his life while she sits around ordering things off of Amazon

The one skill I took away from McDonalds was "clean as you go" - I'm not sure that they actually enforce this notion as hard as they did when I worked there It actually translates to "life is not just one task at a time" which of course is now commonly referred to as "multitasking" It is the difference between a good employee and a great employee and everyone is capable of it but I see a lot of people saying "that's not my job", or "I'm not paid for that" and you know, they're right about that but they are incorrect in their thinking The best staff takes control of their own toolbox, they're not happy being put into a box that doesn't give them the chance to grow beyond the immediate task so they're always looking for ways to do things better, faster, smarter Good staff does only what they're told and either awaits further instruction or requests further instruction, that's okay but it means that they only as good as their programing
