quick question, before you turn on the bike, you need to make sure that the gear is not on first right? needs to be in neutral correct? it is like a manual trans car, you have to make aure your car gear is in neutral or push the clotch before starting it is that the same process with a the bike or not? thanks im pretty much new on this and planning to buy my first bike soon

If I had to give any advice it would be to always use both brakes Because you want that in muscle memory in the case of emergency stop you will at least be in the best position to avoid an accident However remember your wheels will lock much easier and quicker than a car I never had abs so if you have that I'm sure it helps in that scenario

It's always amusing to me how many different opinions there are about how much 'stopping power' you should be using each of the brakes for Very rarely does anyone just tell you, go use them and find what's most comfortable and effective for you and your riding style They've always got exact percentages or grip amounts or whatever

Hi Blockhead doubt you'll see this comment but if you do just wanted to say thank you I was never into motorcycles always about cars and pickup trucks(here in cape town we call them bukkies) but as time went on I found Interest in the 2 wheeled spectrum of vehicles Figured if i could ride id prob get a sport bike like most folk around here Started looking up yt vids on how to ride I came across a few but your vid were so much easier to follow and also I fell in love with that sportster I knew I wanted a cruser Few mnts on got myself and iron 883 as a starter and I've been riding for 3 years today It's a long comment I know but this basicaly the brake down of it all Anyway I just wanted to say thank you because these beginner videos changed my life for the better

The MSF Courses are kinda sad here They don't teach much besides the extreme basics Some dude flipped over his handlebars twice and still was allowed to pass the course They're supposed to terminate the course per individual if they're of danger of themselves or others Poor dude wasn't understanding the figure 8's and the teachers would barely teach him
