Their are no trade workers because theres no good paying jobs period If it paid good money everybody would be doing it tomorrow Stop being greedy and you solve the problem But no the owners wanna be rich at your expense Comment from : @prestonhanson501 |
None of these men worked or chose a trade job themselves Thats the funny part They want you to do it but not them They dont want to be poor and tired lol Trade jobs died when the pay was reduced to poverty Why dont the trade jobs pay more money to attract workers? Thats the problem thats why theres no workers Greed pure and simple Comment from : @prestonhanson501 |

It's amazing how many of the most important jobs in any society aren't valued or paid as they should be for what they contribute A glorified paper pusher makes more As for education for white collar work, most of it is useless other than STEM There are some you can apply, but most will not help you in your career or everyday life Comment from : @kruger2035 |

I'm a " jack of all trades" I did learn to master one though The thing is I didn't go to a trade school to learn any of it I simply grew up poor and had to learn how to fix everything on my own because we couldn't afford to have someone do it for us Comment from : @Tog84two97 |

A lot of what you both talk about in this discussion would be called in today’s society bullying! How very sad we have progressed to lack of esteem building learning by experiencing activities through earning by merit! Comment from : @janicerinker1607 |
I have a daughter that has three has 3 sons The 22 year old is in trade school to work in the oil industry, the 17 year old is a freshman in a 4 year, pre law program, and the 16 year old will also be going to a trade he's very "hands on" learning Comment from : @katherinedemille3770 |

"Blanket party" in Boot Camp some recruit(s) didn't like the "Arpoc" because he allegedly caused us to fail review because he didn't call-out cadence "properly" Next time he jumped into his sack, he came out bleeding: Someone stripped a shick wind-up razor blade and put it under his blanket Don't know if anyone was arrested for that, but you meet some real "winners" in some groups Comment from : @donalddayton1818 |
I took the other road, never felt school was my favorite, I loved Math and Science, however English and History not so much After high school i went to an electrical apprenticeship program, 20 years later I'm now an electrical contractor I wish schools in the 80's and 90's would've pushed the trades like they sold us on college we were told exactly like you said during thids episode, basically college is the only way to secure a decent future its a shame really I believe thats really the reason we have a student loan crisis now Comment from : @redthw |
Thank you Tyrus Sir for these sit down convos I appreciate your straight forwardness! Mike, thank you for your words of wisdom on a person finding their their niche, their groove, their place in life I'm 52 years old, and I've figured it out over the passed 20 years Yes i was late to the game and had to figure that out for myself, not because no one was trying to teach it to me, but didn't articulate it as well as you did to make it click in my mind I played what you said on that for my 14 year old niece in hopes that it will help her in her growth as wellbr "Life's tragedy is we grow old too soon and wise too late" - Benjamin Franklin - Comment from : @mikeadams2677 |

In "High School" I received 2 years of welding school 3 hours a day at the town Vo-Tec This was prep for a job at Electric Boat, Quonsett Point, RI welding subs I was offered a 4 year Construction Mechanic apprenticeship with a Heat Treat Furnace company I took it I have now welded everything from Subs to Stock Cars and everything in between According to my pay check, I ended up being a very good fabricator I have wanted to take a young man under my wings for 20 years now I haven't found one because they are undisciplined, mouthy, girly men My time to retire isn't far off I look around at tradesmen on the jobs I go to Anyone worth a damn is old like me The young ones play on their phone all day and do NOTHING I believe this was intentionally done I understand there are a lot of young men and women in schools today, but it's only a drop in the bucket for what is needed for America's Future now get busy kids Comment from : @thomasholland3289 |

I agree with the idea that if there were no trades we would not exist College degrees are not what they uesd too be There are bigger demands for skilled worker than college grads We are living in a society that wants the rewards without having too put out an honest effort We now have the No student left behind thin which is just a way too give a student a promotion without earning it There are no real rewards for hard work any more, and it is sadbr-br Comment from : @stuartmarkman769 |

This conversation is something that every young person should have to watch at least once in their young life And if they could actually watch it with an open mind, If they would do this and really take it in as they should I truly believe it would change the lives of many of them I really believe that if the young kids today could just disconnect from the hysteria of the mass media and really look at life for what it is if they would just open their minds, it could be the start of something really great in our society Maybe it could be the start of something good Comment from : @bobd9193 |

MERIT badges, NOT EFFORT or INTENT badges! Mike, you hit the nail on the head (pun intended) As a lifelong Scout and ex Scoutmaster also, you assessed the issues correctly There were rules, mottos, adult guidance, survival skills taught, life skills taught, expectations and very importantly; consequences for not following protocol Remember "Leave no trace" or "hug a tree?" It also gave young people GOALS that were challenging but achievable It also taught young men and women to follow societal placed norms and accepted practice Kids these days are being let down by parents, educators and society at large but giving them a "pass" and lowering expectations Discipline and competition is GOOD! Everyone is too accustomed to participation trophies and "my kid can do no wrong" attitudes Keep the great content coming guys! Comment from : @amarbaha |
