I foster feral kittens, and when it comes to the feral cat population, Trap, Neuter, Release is the way to solve the overpopulation problem, hands down You can feed them, and catch the babies and tame them, but if you aren’t getting them fixed you might as well not bother They can create so many kittens in a year that the numbers look unbelievable In one calendar year 2 feral females in my neighborhood produced 21 live kittens that I caught, tamed and found homes for Now that the adults are fixed, there are no more kittens showing up at my feeding station TNR relieves so much suffering Adopt, don’t shop, and spay and neuter!

I have bottle raised so many Ferrell cat kittens because they are found after moms have been killed and babies found and people take them to the vets and other people get called to raise them and before adopting them out they are fixed So they never have babies and go to a good home ready to start a good life shots and all

Sadly this same attitude applies to people toonone of these cats can 'provide' for their children and hence are not allowed to have them It's tyrannical, but this would do a lot of good for the human race in reducing suffering and allowing our civilization to be sustainable for millennia We must reduce the birth rate so that our limited resources are not stretched too thin

My neighbors told me that they had about 21 cats inside and out, they fail to take them to the vet when needed So I contacted a local spay and neuter center and a lady said she would be right over with some traps She caught two maybe three and fixed them, brought them back, and dropped them off all within the 24 period So the neighbors never figured out😅

I'm a vet tech and though we appreciate caring for animals; we dread dealing with the cat rescues They're all characters The procedure takes minutes but prep/sedation is dangerous/ time consuming

I like the fact that you know doing spay and neuter for strays definitely does help in the fact that it keeps their population under control I also have to say that I don’t like the fact that they have to do the ear clip thing There’s got to be a better way to make it so that at a glance a cat that has already been spayed or neutered can be identifiedbrbrI know a lot of people are probably going to say that the cats can be made into pets at the shelter Unfortunately, this isn’t always possible Many times feral cats cannot be domesticated

Oh how well I know I moved on a property that had a couple feral cats My bf and I got all but one female that we could not catch She has repopulated my property I have 25 Spring time is coming and the males are starting to meow brOur local shelter is completely full All I want to do is get them fixed and take care of thembrVets are not taking new patients And to fix them for males is 209 bucks There is a sweet lady that can take fifty bucks off but I don't have that kind money If I don't do something soon I'm going to have 8 cats pregnant and a ton of kittensbrWish I was rich so I could get them all done I still want to take care of them, but I just don't want anymore cats

A neighbor's cat came over to our property and had kittens under one of our sheds before we knew it those kittens became wild and started breeding along with their mom Three years later, I found homes for a few when I was able to find them when they were 6-8 weeks and tamed them first We did end up with a few of them that my granddaughter begged to keep Next, I rented a trap through a feral cat program, for almost 3 years I trapped 14 cats, 11 females, and 3 males are no longer procreating Just recently I think I saw a pregnant cat at that lady's house, don't know if the kittens will survive in the cold, I guess we will see, I might have to go rent a trap again

I didn’t hear anything about each cat getting tested for FeLV/FIV, and euthanizing the cat if positive Also, I didn’t hear anything about euthanizing feral cats if they are ill with Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) or Pneumonia, or finally, if they have no one to give them care
