Do yourself a favour Learn to speak some basic Spanish before you go It’ll save you a load of money and hassle There will always be ex pats or locals that speak English to “help” getting an NIE etc it’s easy if you can speak just a little I used the Michel Thomas course I’m far from fluent but can converse

It's all relative as in any country, if you have plenty of money you can buy in a good area if you don't have much money your looking of out the way palaces The same as in your own country Rose tinted glasses holidays are way different to living and the the language

How about not moving to Spain at all - but just living there on a month to month basis, keeping all your insurances and health benefits at home Saves the trouble of moving, allows you to check out different cities and you won't have to encounter all the traps and perils of bureaucracy while trying to register yourself in a foreign country you don't really know yet
