Another good tip if you seeing that $3k makes you want to spend it, open a savings account completely separate from your checking AND if you auto-deposit, even a minimal amount each paycheck, you’ll add to it without missing anything even if it’s only $5 or $10 per pay That a price of a coffee and donut per paycheck you are saving Comment from : @donnajacques3781 |

I leave my air cleaner on 24/7 for white noise and to live with my pets But honey, at our age we've been using the bathroom for long enough to do it in the dark, haven't we? Toilet, faucet, soap and towel haven't moved in years Comment from : @gitouttamycage9221 |

Thank you for these tips Kate In my checking account I call it my "Blind Balance" There is extra money in checking, but in the checkbook register (Quicken, Moneyspire etc) I put the extra money as a withdrawal under "Blind Balance" I have done this for a few decades, but I'm much older than you are I only keep $500 in my "Blind Balance" and send all other extra money to my High Yield Savings account for an emergency fund I have about 6 months living expenses in my emergency fund, but I've been saving a little at a time for decades Separate "for shopping" only email is a brilliant idea This is off topic but If you date online, you should also have a separate email to give people who you are trying to get to know in the beginning stages Comment from : @doontoonkc1818 |

Once a week? I live alone and shop once every two/ three weeks…if not a month… laundry every two weeks most times unless there extra things like comforters, tablecloths, rugs…lights are always off unless I am in that room and need it… I don’t have cable tv…only internet…which I need for work……also I don’t look at product links that YouTubers link to …it’s just another way of being tempted to buy things I don’t really need 🤷🏼♀️ …if I’m not already looking for something because I am in need of it…I don’t want to see it 😊 Comment from : @Ladythyme |

The dishwasher running once a day isn’t going to break you It’s much more efficient and uses less water than hand washing And I eat all my meals at home, so I’d be hand washing There are two of us, and we put just about all dishes in the dishwasher and only run full loads We average a load every three days No big deal, but this isn’t definitely not an area to fixate on Comment from : @BarbaraShipley-gw1wf |

I have a four day work week I do all of my errands on my way home from work, so I very rarely leave my home on the three days I’m not working I shop exclusively online—if I can’t see it, I can’t want it I pay $199 for grocery pick up as both a protection of my mental health (cart rage is real) and, again, if I don’t see it, I don’t buy it I run my dishwasher when it gets full That’s normally two to three times a week because I cook and I use real dishes I have found the cheapest place in town for prescriptions, and earn fuel points for every prescription My son’s grocery store doesn’t have gas pumps, so he buys all of his groceries under my membership number and I typically have $50 - $1 off per gallon He does that at Harris-Teeter (owned by Kroger) and he uses my discount card at Food Lion as well, and we trade off on the rewards earnings If I need gas and don’t have fuel points, I always use Upside to get a rebate and I Fetch all of my receipts The apps are simple and quick to use and I use them as mini savings accounts Comment from : @carolburnett190 |
