people, especially in the modern western world, are manipulated, programmed, almost brainwashed, to over consume since before they are self aware i love Dave Ramsey and everything he teaches about money and finance there are some social issues we disagree about, but when it comes to money and finance he is spot on also watch, and just as important listen, to documentaries / features IOUSA, Maxed Out, In Debt We Trust, The Men Who Made Us Spend, PBS Frontline episodes The Secret History Of The Credit Card and The Card Game, and Netflix series Dirty Money there is much more to money than math, and big business and big banking have purposefully obfuscated the rules of the game

There’s no”hidden secret” to why people are busting their budget Typical Americans have the impulse control of your average 3 year old these days Putting money away for savings used being the norm Now it’s the extreme exception I think the most recent study showed that approximately 70 of Americans can’t come up with $500 actual CASH if they had to in an emergency That’s some scary stuff right there! This is due more to financial immaturity than it is to an income vs actual expenses problem
