It's one thing if you have parents living in Africa and they have no opportunity to manage themselves I totally get that BUT parents who live in europe needs to take own responsibility Parents are not kids and they should not ask their own kids for money Comment from : @zirpa1 |

So sad Perhaps just give once (calculated w some kind of passive income) or move to an english speaking 3rd world country, 2k a month is very huge, 8x the minimum wagebrbrGod bless, Rev 21:4 Comment from : @SevenDeMagnus |

My mom keeps asking me for money Comment from : @fyhussain4088 |

Part of the family evaluation needs to include considering mom and dad working into their 70's to make the math work Most of us boomers will be doing that They're no different Unless you are disabled or ill, no reason to retire in your 60's if you need a larger nest egg and/or are not willing to downsize your standard of living Shame on the parents for asking their kids for support Comment from : @Fishouta |
The mom income is $2000 and let's assume the dad income is $1000 with social security Unless I'm missing something That should be enough for a older couple to live on if they are living within their means Comment from : @treyatl2006 |
And something is missing, she said her mother is being cut back to 2000 a month, what about pops? Even if that is combined, I know people who live on that here in New York You should be able to live VERY well on 2000 in other states Comment from : @johnmonk66 |
Irresponsible parents, they want to retire and live off their kids, good parents would keep working Comment from : @johnmonk66 |

I’ve been fortunate to have parents that actually took control of their finances, and not having money as an issue growing up has made us all stronger than ever! brbrHopefully it works out for them in the long run Comment from : @NickPeitsch |
"If you ask me for my money you are asking for money you are asking for my interference in your life" Dave Ramsey Yes sir! I love it Dave! I love that line! I am officially stealing that one sir!!! Comment from : @kmking2000 |
Those parents should be ashamed of themselvesyou set up your kids to have more money and to have a better life than you didthat way in a couple of generations down the road, your family tree changes for the better and they become very wealthyever see those rich families that are rich just because they’re rich? That’s why They have saved and invested and passed it down over generations and it snowballs Parents like this (like my wife’s parents) are a problem Comment from : @TWDxKILL3R |
I have 3 kids that all make a lot more than me I am embarassed and humiliated if they buy me a burger!! I can't imagine asking them for money As a family, if there is a true need, we work together to take care of it, but we never borrow money from one another Comment from : @ladyrevivalstudio |
Retire?brAt 60?brGet back to work boomer! Comment from : @SuperMooshrooms |

Instead of writing a blank check, the better idea is to pay for specific expenses to take the load off I'd start with something like utilities which are defined and easy to determine if being abused Comment from : @oldtwinsna8347 |
$2K per month should be enough! Comment from : @slhines7 |
I agree giving money never “actually” helps the person in need !! If they really need money help but make sure to ask them to return it to you I have seen this personally in my family!! My husband would have helped his sister with at least 20k till now and yet she doesn’t have enough!! Reason why she needs money is because she is bad at managing money and expectations don’t buy expensive cars, do not send your kids to private school, don’t eat out too much, don’t buy pricey Indian clothes in Australia!! Ironically we don’t do any of these ourselves but have to finance her frivolous expenses!! I try to explain this to him and I become bad person 🤦🏽♀️ she will never learn!! Comment from : @fumingsalmon |
Yeah, my narcissistic mother is going to have to sell the home she lives in, in order to feed herself, should it come to that She can always move in with my sister, in the home she is to suddenly inherit now, after barely being present for all these decades My mother is banking on me not letting her lose her home as, I might inherit it before I’m dead That there is an epic failure of a plan as, she has done all she can to destroy the property anyway so, since the plumbing might be toast and the house determined as worth nothing, she can eat the wood planks for sustenance, for all I care Comment from : @privateprivate8366 |
Western culture is different Foreigner parents expect it bEspecially/b if you're a first generation American It's a Moral and cultural obligation to take care of your parents until they die If you don't you'll be a "wicked"/ "selfish" child and talk of the family Comment from : @Kristina-mm2rl |

Yeah, I sent my money to help her pay off back taxes but I told her all that hanging with the church, etc has to slow down because you have put yourself in serious debt and as usual no one around when u need them Comment from : @rikers263 |
In the Philippines it's customary here to give our parents a part of your salary when you started working And, when they get old we house them to our own home and take care of thembrbrIt's like the retirement plan here in my country is investing on your children's education and once they started earning, parents will also get part of it 😂 idk, it's not really a spoken rule it just Filipino culture I guess Comment from : @mariel5588 |
Why is it we pay social security out of our paychecks when that money could just continue to go into our own 401k’s? Government social programs don’t make any sense Comment from : @Garebare1 |
TSP is the Federal Government 401k What about mom’s pension and social security? The reported income is short Comment from : @cheesebear3353 |
They are only in their 60's? My husband and I are still flipping houses in our 60's and we don't even need the money These people could live to 95, are you going to support them for 30 years? She needs to keep working and he needs a side hustle Comment from : @poodlegirl55 |
Only $2000 try $800 like people I know Comment from : @MrJay197409 |
Western culture is so different In many other parts of the world, we do believe and we do accept that we have a moral responsibility to take care of our parents Of course the parents should manage their money well and plan for retirement, but we’re not going to leave our parents to suffer on the grounds that we have no moral responsibility We just don’t see it that way The reasoning is that they sacrificed for you, so at the appropriate time, it’s your turn to sacrifice for them You can’t give what you don’t have, of course, but we do have a responsibility Comment from : @chimuan1 |

Like many people, I help my parents You have to remember, if you're handing over money consistently, there is an issue there The more you do for them, the less you are able to do for your self, and ONE DAY, you will have to retire as well Comment from : @callynt |
"If you are asking for my money, you are asking for my interference into your lifeyou get to take my advice if you take my money" - brilliant! $2000 a month is not bad to life off on, a lot of people live on a lot less Don't abandon your parents, but only help if it is really needed Comment from : @verysmartsolutions |
