 The 1933 dated Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle $20 gold coin was once owned by King Farouk of Egypt That gold coin wound up with British coin dealer Stephen Fenton who was arrested by the United States Secret Service during a sting operation at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, New York City on February 6, 1996 That gold coin was later bought at a Sotheby’s and Stack’s Rare Coins Auction on July 30, 2002 by shoe tycoon Stuart A Weitzman who paid $7,590,020 for it Nineteen years later on June 8, 2021, Stuart A, Weitzman sold it at a Sotheby's Auction in Manhattan, New York City for $18,872,250 making it the most expensive coin in the world
