I've restricted my gold buys, so far, to ETCs But I'll look into buying sovereigns, if I can do so at a low premium I suspect that means I should be buying new, rather than 'pre-loved'brHelpful video

I like the 1/2 Sovereign and Austrian Ducat 8Austrians and a 1/2 Sovereign and you have just over an ounce of gold (10025 ozt) for $2798, vs 10 Maples at $303 for $3030, or $232 less

You can get a Sov graded MS62 for $850AUD while melt value is $771 AUD, so your really paying $29 for history & $50 for grading When you swap your paper money back you'll probably get more

In 2005 Chard offered me £50 for a 1989 gold sovereign 500th anniversary capsulated in original presentation case and told me why he should'nt even be bothered over something of such low interest that worth no more than scrap Within a couple of years prices shot up Just shows how much he knows

Love my sovereigns but honestly I don't really see the premiums going to the moon on them purely because of scarcitybrScarcity is what drives premiums which is why even now the coins that command high premiums are the ones that were minted in lower numbers at specific mintsbrNone of these vintage coins are being used as circulating currency, nobody is going to be mounting them in jewellery, nobody is melting them unless they are completely worn or bashedbrIn essence all or virtually all the vintage sovereigns that are around now will likely still be around and in the same condition in another 100 years from now
