@TheOpinionator450
Well, the apple didn't fall far from the tree Your dad didn't get to experience retirement, and now, neither will you
Comment from : @TheOpinionator450

This guy is overly optimistic and downplays how foolish he was with his money He and his wife may get about $4000 together Social Security, but they should expect a major change in their lifestyle Their l delay in investing until they are 60 shows a track record of bad financial decisions br They better not complain about not having enough in their retirement since they caused it themselves
Comment from :

@BusArch42
My MiL YOLO’d her entire life When she hit her early 60s she hadn’t even earned Medicare and only spousal SS because one of her many marriages lasted ten years Her plan was to die at age 70 She’s 82 now and has been living off her kids for many decades It’s the ultimate selfishness to dump responsibility for your rotten decisions on your kids
Comment from : @BusArch42

@rgroover007
This guy will have to work until 80 because he's not smart
Comment from : @rgroover007

@MichaelSiegle
The answer is bitcoin, if you’re willing to HODL for at least 4 years, you’ll see the highest ROI of any investment brClass of 2017
Comment from : @MichaelSiegle

@blizbiggy
It's true that you can't take everything with you once you're gone, but live like you're going to live to 100! I certainly don't want to worry how I'm going to pay for stuff if I inherited my mom's genes of a long life My biggest mistake is that I didn't start taking retirement seriously a lot sooner (just a 401k with 10 going in initially), but I'm still a young mid 30's man with plenty of time I now have a ROTH 401k, maxed out IRA per year, and a decent savings going I wouldn't mind getting into some sort of additional "passive" income either
Comment from : @blizbiggy

@gabrielgolden4336
Their reply should begin with "Well, dumbass "
Comment from : @gabrielgolden4336

@PotBellyPygmy
Depending on social security is dangerous enough, but to base your retirement on both you and your spouse's is even worse What if one of you dies 2 months into retirement? There goes that portion of social security Or if it is dependent on his candle sales, what if he goes first? What will she do?
Comment from : @PotBellyPygmy

@Bartonhockey08
I’v heard the same this caller mentioned, YOLO cause his dad died 6 months before retiring Whelp, this is how YOLO ends up when you live longer than expected brbrThis caller is delusional and being 60 with no retirement Optimistic characteristics is great but this guy is clearly out of his mind thinking he isn’t going to rely on SS in 5 years considering he has no retirement Good luck buddy
Comment from : @Bartonhockey08

@jerede7731
It’s depressing to think about all those likely matching employer contributions this guy missed out on for 40 years I realize we don’t know his employer offered them based on this call but just about all companies do Just getting the maximum match would have made a world of difference for this guy
Comment from : @jerede7731

@jayclarke9546
That guy George has no empathy, he is under the impression that people can plan thier lives financially, many people had a hard life and had to work with little income just to get by, even if its to late to really help them at most you can show a bit more empathy, not everbody has had the resources you have now, Dave Ramsey wasnt around back when
Comment from : @jayclarke9546

@lolwtnick4362
fool wait til 70 $4000 in SS benefits lmao BS thats really high
Comment from : @lolwtnick4362

@Kongoman125

Comment from : @craigmiller1870

@K-zq6tp
Why did he call in if he has it all figured out BUT really doesn't, sad George should have gave him an old fashioned Dave Ramsey reality check smack
Comment from : @K-zq6tp

@danpatterson8009
My only plan for retirement was to a) max out retirement plans as long as I worked, and b) avoid debt It worked
Comment from : @danpatterson8009

@TShirtAndReeboks
Save for retirement even if you fear a short life! If you die younger, you can pass along your money to family or a charity If you live longer than you expect, you have something You'll have more peace while living either way!
Comment from : @TShirtAndReeboks

@daveg5018
Ken, look up history on Yankee Candle Company in South Deerfield, MA Yes, there’s plenty of margin in candles
Comment from : @daveg5018

@alienresearchlab
This is a perfect example for somebody who's in their 20's and just starting out of what not to do Why is he laughing? Social Security is not a retirement plan
Comment from : @alienresearchlab

@Tamarind525

Comment from : @MikeBoardley

@SM-pc7io
No one ever mentions this but an HSA is only good if you can afford an insurance plan Here in Oregon my insurance would cost about $800 per month so it's not affordable
Comment from : @SM-pc7io

@arvia1984
This guy is 61 and has not only spent all of his money his whole life but $26,000 more than all of his money, yet has the gall to say "he has done some research" and proceeds to talk the whole freaking time It's no wonder he's broke
Comment from : @arvia1984

@justifiedbythelordalmighty

Comment from : @MrMasterDebate

@commonenglishmistakes4360
7 years to save for retirement? LMAO If that was a real thing, I'd have done it at 23 and retired at 30
Comment from : @commonenglishmistakes4360

@rodeleon2875
he should have made these changes at age 35 instead of 60 he better learn to love his job and set his sights on retiring at 72 and dropping dead by 80 or so sadly he is indicative of a lot of people his age
Comment from : @rodeleon2875

@patriciao4442
He started lots of companies and have ZERO money

Comment from : @chrislim7976

@johnmccormack4498
These are all good questions he's asking The problem is he should have been asking them 40 years ago
Comment from : @johnmccormack4498

@haloimplant7678
at this point he should consider taking up smoking and morbid obesity, the retirement problem solves itself
Comment from : @haloimplant7678

@damondenis9406
It amazes me that seemly Intelligent people still believe that SOCIAL SECURITY will exist in the near future and are RELYING on it to provide for them till their death ??? Comment from : @machutson5493

@RonnieMundt
Caller would never hush for a second Nothing like hearing a guy with nothing saved up at 61 brag about his two businesses he’s sold and tell everyone about how things work
Comment from : @RonnieMundt

@srhadden525
IMO if you hit 60 with no retirement you will be working the rest of your life, 50 is late but at least it is something
Comment from : @srhadden525

Comment from : @johnulcer

@harrisonwintergreen1147
His plan is to retire and start Serenity by Jan 😳
Comment from : @harrisonwintergreen1147

@LucasBenjamin-hv7sk
Retirement is now more difficult than it was in the past I've been saving for a long time instead of investing, and right now I only have about $400K considering all the inflation, i'm thinking of investing in stocks, i dont just have idea on market strategies
Comment from : @LucasBenjamin-hv7sk

@trex7359
Better make it 75 this guy is 60 with nothing saved made a 100 grand a year and was spending money like Congress, and he expects to live off of 4 grand a month with his spending habits good luck

@kortyEdna825
The Fed's talk of interest rate cut leaves me pondering what stocks to buy now and when do I sell? I'm unsure how to properly allocate my money to achieve an optimal portfolio in this present economy, my goal is $3m for retirement
Comment from : @kortyEdna825

@Beatricegove733
Most Americans find it hard to retire comfortably amid economy downtrend Some have close to nothing going into retirement, my question is, will you pay off mortgage as a near-retiree, or spread money for cashflow, to afford lifestyle after retirement?
Comment from : @Beatricegove733

@joelmartinez2278
You're screwednext call
Comment from : @joelmartinez2278

@Playingwithproxies
First off work till your 70 cause you need to max you social security income Don’t play to retire at 65 or even at 67 Second that gives you 10 years to try to save up something to subsidize your social security income
Comment from : @Playingwithproxies

@srvsgal
Working 50 years Looking forward to my fotz time
Comment from : @srvsgal

@Undefined14
Dude sounds healthy, he should try to push to 70 Doubles his growth time and maxes out his social security Mistakes were made but I think going to 70 solves everything
Comment from : @Undefined14

@slambig
People that get bored in retirement are losers So much to do, nothing to do
Comment from : @slambig

@cashway0420
I bet Ken wants George to drip hot candle wax onto his nipples
Comment from : @cashway0420

@AkuNoHana
I can’t stand these kinds of old people who can’t shut the hell up A bunch of incoherent rambling All the years didn’t impart any wisdom to them One foot in the grave yet no respect for their own or other’s time
Comment from : @AkuNoHana

@stevenwalton6405
They are trying to politely say you need to find something you can do to keep working
Comment from : @stevenwalton6405

@christinehopping5040
My retired neighbor sounds lot like happy go lucky Tom Today, she's back to work Full of hot air One good thing about Tom is that he owns his house
Comment from : @christinehopping5040

@Nonsense116
I know I'm a little early to the retirement savings party So when I hear someone just starting to save in their 30s I'm like "Man, what took so long" but 60!!!! That's crazy I get being worried about not living to see retirement But that's why you strike a balance Make some sacrifices today to be covered in retirement, but not so many sacrifices that you do nothing fulfilling
Comment from : @Nonsense116

@kaitlyncranwick
This is my fifth year after retirement I’ve been following the 4 rule thing, but this isn’t really how hard I expected things to be I still have about $460k outside funds in my IRA to invest in stocks Pls how do I take advantage of the market turnaround?
Comment from : @kaitlyncranwick

@frankish5314
As an ex skydiver with over 500 jumps I would point out that this sport is one of the safest there is I get your point that it was a metaphor however
Comment from : @frankish5314

@gary-gilbert
Wonder if he missed out on an employer match all those years he didn't contribute to his companies 401K?
Comment from : @gary-gilbert

@thecasualrver
I retired for 2 years at 64, I worked in the automotive manufacturing industry for just under 30 years The second day I hired on the HR manager called me in, tell told me, start saving for your retirement now and start contributing as much as you can, because 30 years will come so fast He was so right I followed his advice with my first paycheck and never looked back We are very Blessed, I don't have to be concerned with our finances
Comment from : @thecasualrver

@andrewdiamond2697
I actually have part of Tom's plan I'm going to downsize my paid-off house, too But that's just a piece of my overall plan
Comment from : @andrewdiamond2697

@sarahb2731
I CANT STOP LAUGHING TO TEARS HE WILL WORK TILL 90
Comment from : @sarahb2731

@joehick8102
Honestly I don't want to retire if I could keep my job at 20 hours a week I would be happy I enjoy my job and what do you even do in retirement besides go on a cruise ship Family is always busy so you really aren't gonna be able to see family except the weekends just work from home doing consulting or data management or management we are all gonna die around 65 to 80 what are you gonna do for 15 years just sitting around? I get its a dream for some, but at 30 years old I have no idea what you do in retirement
Comment from : @joehick8102

@TerryOnDemand
If their house is paid off and all debts are cleared before 65, they should be fine with $4,000 coming in from SSI🤷🏽‍♀️
Comment from : @TerryOnDemand

@bott3849
This is a future walmart greater
Comment from : @bott3849

@bjkarana
Well, enjoy working well into your 70s? He can tell himself that 67 is the age he imust/i retire at, but his finances will determine otherwise Most likely he'll get sucked into a couple get rich quick scams thinking he can make up for in risk what he lost in time, and end up broke and bitter
Comment from : @bjkarana

@joshwilcox8941
Why did this guy call?
Comment from : @joshwilcox8941

@Philippinesbound42
How do you bring in 7200 after tax money and have nothing?
Comment from : @Philippinesbound42

@charliedallachie3539
To be fair though… he took a risk He is right, we could all slave away at a job, save for retirement and pass away before being able to enjoy any of it At the same time the other risk is his situation I try to take both approach Work and save but also take cool vacations once in a while (especially between jobs)
Comment from : @charliedallachie3539

@charliedallachie3539
Reality is he’ll “pass on” while on the job
