What's wrong with taking a few days off and working in the yard? It's a lot cheaper to pull weeds, plant some flowers and dig some edging than taking a vacation and it does a lot more to clear your head than any vacation

Whether you call it secondary trauma, Vicarious trauma or burnout As a community mental health worker in Australia, I learned a long time ago that in order to care for others you need first to care for yourself which means budgeting for a holiday, weekend away, time with friends/ family, etc It is about balance

Vacation entitlement just blows my mind I grew up poor and from birth to age 18, the closest we ever came to a family vacation was driving to visit my grandparents in Florida twice And yet my childhood was still fun, playing outside every day, going to the local parks and lakes I feel bad for parents today, they've been sold a bill of goods that children require spoiling and dazzling experiences

She’s an emergency room physician Yes, her debt was 900K but she likely makes 400K-500K/year She’s already paid half of it off 120K in student loans for her is equivalent is 20-25K in debt for someone making 100K It’s all relative Her income earning potential over the course of her lifetime is huge Some of the comments read like she isn’t wise or is someone to be pitied Hardly It’s all relative As for life insurance, the benefit package for an ER doc most certainly includes that And yes, she needs a vacation Anyone whose daily interaction includes people who’ve been shot, in car accidents, heart attacks, abuse etc needs time away, whatever that means for them Stress is on another level

Look at the statistics of what you are going to live to, its like 70-80 that you will make it to an old age Even higher if you take care of yourself and stay healthy Are you really going to roll on black for a 20-30 chance?
