I still can’t seem to get this I’ve watched it over and over and there are parts I can’t figure out Like why did he double it to $10 FV instead of just leaving it at $5 as advertised Why did he move the decimal point without explaining why? brbrOk, let me give you a real example that’s being advertised One roll (50 dimes) of AU dimes for $19995 So using this formula, what do you come up with that you’re paying for this per oz?? Comment from : @grasscutter1963 |

Love the break down! I know it’s 4 years old video, is it still the same? Comment from : @grasscutter1963 |

Nice video man! You got a new subscriber Comment from : @take2studio187 |

Should I assume you are referring to "US Constitutional Coin"? And only using the term a few Dealers began using in hope of convincing the odd customer who walks into their shop hopping to turn Grand Pa's old quart jar filled to the brim with 90 Silver coins that it was only "Junk"? And there for justify your offer of well below "Spot"?brYeah, I'm very familiar with how the local coin shops make their money!!! Comment from : @Robb-jf7vg |
Kind of late to this chart especially with the recent run up of silver so I guess the question I have is, what would this chart look like now At what point does it make sense to just purchase rounds over junk coins with the current rate of $3580 per oz for a $100 FV bag, it just seems there has to be a diminished return for picking up junk silver Thanks for the education Comment from : @TritonMan7 |
And today it’s running an out 245x Comment from : @rickbruceroche2038 |

I have noticed on SD Bullion's web site that 90 Junk silver is priced differently by face value A $100 constitutional bag (no specified size or mixture of coins) is priced lower than a specified denomination of $100 face value Can you explain that for me The person on the live chat are never clear Comment from : @charlesphillips5723 |
Is junk silver sold by weight on a scale? I am a newbie on stacking silver I have ventured into "junk" from my local coin shop My initial purchase was $15000 face value A mixture of halves, quarters, and dimes I did not want any silver dollars as I have previously bought 1 oz rounds and did not feel that I need a mixture of rounds and coins of that size What i have noticed while "playing" with my new purchase is some of the coins are worn much more than others As an example, I have clear tubes of dimes ($1000 face value) Some of these tubes have more vacant space than others In other words, In some tubes the 100 coins take up less space in the tube I would assume that there would be less silver in those tubes Comment from : @charlesphillips5723 |

I just found your channel Your video's are fantastic for learning about silver Comment from : @danklein8587 |

The fact that SD Bullion, has its name, on the uncirculated Kennedy halves, tells me, that someone has already gone through them, for error or other coins Comment from : @RoyMH1960 |
Great way to calculate the cost With being video being old maybe you could say how much over spot you would go rather than the 143 $ 2000 Comment from : @2olvets443 |
Why do you multiply the x value by 140 face value instead of 100 face value ? Comment from : @ozziman1821 |

Been binging on these old videos the past couple of days I learned a lot This was particularly informative, even though the spot price of silver throws your buy point off I also liked your Gold / Silver ratio explanation I knew what it was, but you explained how to put it into practice, same with this video Comment from : @Threedog1963 |
According to the math as of today, that 100$ bag of dimes would be 30842 /oz junk silver 2,20399 for the bag as of today Comment from : @DjPorkchop73 |

this explains a lot for me A thousand ounce bag of constitutional silver equals 715 ounces It's not 1000 ounces and that's the trick It's deceiving The face value of a dollar is very different than the one ounce As of today 5/14/23 the price per ounce on SD is 3627 an ounce Ouch Now that I understand I just went online to see what the junk silver is going for brI can get 1 oz rounds for less than that Even the maple leaf is cheaperbrThis just saved me a pile of money and I appreciate itbrI have junk silver from years ago I'll keep that since it seems to be worth more than new minted silver Comment from : @beebob1279 |
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! QUESTION: what is your opinion on the state quarters? Are they worth collecting? Comment from : @mariwillalwaysgivethanks |
GOOD INFO THANKS Comment from : @alschumacher9463 |
Was thinking about buying a roll of silver dimes but never understood the pricing, now I realize I’d pay near $140 for $5 facethat’s ridiculous I’ll stick to my rounds as they seem to be the best way to go as I personally only buy silver bars when the price is just too good to pass up Comment from : @obitodace4493 |
the face value 140 equals an ounce silver dollars don't apply to this rule Comment from : @AmericanDutchMan |
Does this chart still work with today's prices (2023)? Comment from : @juliel7359 |
Junk silver is coins with more silver value than numismatic valuebrSo the older the date the worse the conditionbrUncirculated coins are not considered junk silverbrThe coun dealer I did business with for 3 decades always said $150 face value equals one troy ounce Comment from : @joecombs7468 |
I'm watching this in March 2023 The going rate now for circulated junk silver from SD is a ridiculous $12/ozt over spot and $15 over spot from Money Metals 🤦♂ Panic, I guess Comment from : @Paladin_Strategic |
Unfortunately this chart is not that realistic for 2023 I really wish I had started stacking a couple years before this video February 2023 I got $100 face at sd bullion for $1850 Comment from : @Shane-on5kh |

What is it about dimes? I think they are beautiful, and transport a bit better, but just the beauty of them was evident to me before the Biden crisis Comment from : @jeanmader2302 |

I know this is a pretty old video but it's still true to this day Except silver us more and people are paying high premiums I love the Mercury dimes But like I said people are paying thr high premiums Anyway good video and great advice I enjoy your videos because you talk slow and you make it so interesting fir beginners So keep it up and keep on searching for what you 👍 like Comment from : @georgeclark8032 |
The reason it is not an ultimate guide is because of the extreme fluctuation of prices It does give a good idea of how it works for new people to the field but anything more than a month or two old is not really helpful for what to pay Do your research! Comment from : @michaellindsey1543 |
Amazing video man! Thanks so much! Very Informative! Comment from : @thegoldsovereign9647 |

How come no one talks about 40 1965-1970? They're much less circulated so their silver content isn't wildly different from a very circulated junk quarter, but the premium is way less than the quarters Comment from : @jamiesmith4293 |
80 isn't anything to sneer at It's way better than 40 half dollars Comment from : @calvinspiff4348 |
You have just throw me into it xD Great guide, thanks Comment from : @spartan-s013 |
I just found this video & I have a question Suppose I were to buy a mixed lot of 90 constitutional silver that's circulated (average wear) and I don't want to put it in tubes Must it be kept in a dry air-tight container, or is it ok to just put it in a box in my safe since it's already been circulated? Comment from : @dukenukemani07 |
It's October 2022, and these multipliers no longer work brWe need an updated chart Lol Comment from : @hlhl2691 |
Thanks - I made a google sheet I can access on my phone with 2 inputs (Total Price-TP and face value-FV) and an output (TP / FV / 0715) This eliminates the slight rounding issue of using the rule of thumb at 140 It really opened my eyes to how big the premiums on junk is today (Oct 2022) Comment from : @bobloblaws224 |

I know I'm late to the party viewing the video But recently I paid $2 a piece for dimes Which comes out to $28 an ounce? Or should I be dividing by $2 Which would be $14 oz? This is the cheapest local price from 5 sources Quarters $8, halves $11-12 Comment from : @billparks7368 |
Very cool presentation! I subscribed and liked! Thanks! Comment from : @dangaines405 |

The worst scam in junk silver is someone selling by face value and instead of dimes, quarters or halves they send you war nickels You need to look carefully at what is being offered for sale before you buy Comment from : @davidsandy5917 |
This video has been extremely helpful in understanding junk silver However, I'm wondering if you might have a more updated or current numbers/guide being this was a couple years agoI guess what i'm asking is would this apply to today's prices? Sorry, still new at this Either way, thanks for the great videos! ✌️ Comment from : @samgiancana420 |
