I still can’t seem to get this I’ve watched it over and over and there are parts I can’t figure out Like why did he double it to $10 FV instead of just leaving it at $5 as advertised Why did he move the decimal point without explaining why? brbrOk, let me give you a real example that’s being advertised One roll (50 dimes) of AU dimes for $19995 So using this formula, what do you come up with that you’re paying for this per oz??

Should I assume you are referring to "US Constitutional Coin"? And only using the term a few Dealers began using in hope of convincing the odd customer who walks into their shop hopping to turn Grand Pa's old quart jar filled to the brim with 90 Silver coins that it was only "Junk"? Kind of late to this chart especially with the recent run up of silver so I guess the question I have is, what would this chart look like now At what point does it make sense to just purchase rounds over junk coins with the current rate of $3580 per oz for a $100 FV bag, it just seems there has to be a diminished return for picking up junk silver Thanks for the education

Is junk silver sold by weight on a scale? I am a newbie on stacking silver I have ventured into "junk" from my local coin shop My initial purchase was $15000 face value A mixture of halves, quarters, and dimes I did not want any silver dollars as I have previously bought 1 oz rounds and did not feel that I need a mixture of rounds and coins of that size What i have noticed while "playing" with my new purchase is some of the coins are worn much more than others As an example, I have clear tubes of dimes ($1000 face value) Some of these tubes have more vacant space than others In other words, In some tubes the 100 coins take up less space in the tube I would assume that there would be less silver in those tubes

this explains a lot for me A thousand ounce bag of constitutional silver equals 715 ounces It's not 1000 ounces and that's the trick It's deceiving The face value of a dollar is very different than the one ounce As of today 5/14/23 the price per ounce on SD is 3627 an ounce Ouch Now that I understand I just went online to see what the junk silver is going for brI can get 1 oz rounds for less than that Even the maple leaf is cheaperbrThis just saved me a pile of money and I appreciate itbrI have junk silver from years ago I'll keep that since it seems to be worth more than new minted silver

The reason it is not an ultimate guide is because of the extreme fluctuation of prices It does give a good idea of how it works for new people to the field but anything more than a month or two old is not really helpful for what to pay Do your research!

How come no one talks about 40 1965-1970? They're much less circulated so their silver content isn't wildly different from a very circulated junk quarter, but the premium is way less than the quarters

Thanks - I made a google sheet I can access on my phone with 2 inputs (Total Price-TP and face value-FV) and an output (TP / FV / 0715) This eliminates the slight rounding issue of using the rule of thumb at 140 It really opened my eyes to how big the premiums on junk is today (Oct 2022)

FYI, uncirculated 90 US silver coins are NOT considered "junk" silver Junk silver is circulated 90US silver coins You haven't been stacking very long (less than 20 yrs) so you probably didn't know that

The worst scam in junk silver is someone selling by face value and instead of dimes, quarters or halves they send you war nickels You need to look carefully at what is being offered for sale before you buy
