Whats the difference between mercury dimes and silver dimes? Is there a difference? Comment from : @shaneomac6902 |
Well, if you are buying, partly, for SHTF, you NEED dimes You need quarters you don't NEED half-dollars Comment from : @rickbruceroche2038 |
I really hate the way you call it "junk" silverbrIt's real money, unlike the junk we call money now Comment from : @stevejava4336 |

Franklin Halves all the way Comment from : @HappyGoLucky-tr8bo |
Also quarters tend to be more expensive per face value compared to half’s and dimes Dimes are the least expensive, but half’s are only a bit more per face value and you can stack them easier Comment from : @ajsliter |
I personally like the Franklin haves best but the 64 Kennedy halves are always in the best condition because it was the last yr of 90, just like the Canadian 1967 dollar and half dollar, most in unc or almost unc because they were rarely spent since they too were last yr of silver Comment from : @stevelauda5435 |
Did they make any 40 quarters or dimes? Here in 🇨🇦 1966 was the last year of our 80 silver In 1967, things changed slightly The dollar and half dollar remained at 80 silver but the quarter and dime was reduced to 50 silver And in 1968 , everything went nickle, but for part of the year the quarter and dime was 50 silver made from leftover blanks, once they were done, the rest of the yr they were nickle The dollar was 100 nickle from 1968, to 1987 when the loonies replaced the Voyagure dollar Comment from : @stevelauda5435 |
Quarter s About $5 To $6 $7 Depends on the Graade Of Them To ! Comment from : @Larry-wz5kf |
Depends on the Greade Of The Bread On Morgan's and Peace Dollars ! Comment from : @Larry-wz5kf |

Also the bicentennial qairter and halves sometimes [depending on the mint mark] are silver as well Comment from : @bsanchez3563 |
I take whatever I can get the lowest premium on, I don't focus on only getting a certain coin they will eventually all come to me 😂😂 Comment from : @pjanoo6973 |
Personally, I love all const-silver Between Morg and Peace I have 164 coins I don't care about perfect, but not necessarily cull I'd love to see an average of $28 or so, but people will keep selling at astronomical prices, as long as idiots keep paying astronomical prices Comment from : @PatriotNorthman |
This has to be one of your best 101 videos Comment from : @GhostDiZ |
I like being able to put a face value of $140 by combining 2 halves and 4 dimes or a combination of using halves, quarters and dimes to arrive at $140 which equals one ounce of silver Comment from : @Justice4oneandall |
I’ve noticed the war nickels are always very dirty as compared to 90 percent Why do you think that is? Does the lower silver content make it tarnish easier? Comment from : @chaunceyhart1346 |
My problem with junk silver is only the silver stackers know what it is 90 of the public would laugh at you if you tried to explain why your quarter is worth $5 😂 Old people and stackers are the only ones that understand the situation Comment from : @johninphx9360 |
8:10 - How is it better to sell them at face value than weight? Assuming you must mean collectible value not denominated value 🤔 Comment from : @shawndiesel007 |
No barber dimes? Comment from : @jacquelinelockett |
Quarters have the best jingle Comment from : @christophurbautista7264 |
I’m stuck on stacking Dimes at the moment, preferably Mercury Dimes but I’ll also chase down Rosie’s, too, if the price is right ($2 apiece)… Comment from : @mikeoneil5770 |
I personally wouldn’t say what junk silver is better because the more you have you will probably eventually trade it in for fiat currency and the coins will be melted which it is a sad thing Comment from : @jt9451 |
I completed Guardhouse boxes for both Quarters and Halves My experience is has been Quarters were very popular in stacking and sometimes were as hard to find as Halves I am now onto finish Stacking my Guardhouse box of dimes Comment from : @Stack_Silver |
Climate change obviouslyyyy Comment from : @mikemattson4020 |
Dimes and quarters are what I like best Comment from : @ronalddvorak1967 |
Half dollars all day long! Quarters when those aren't available Dimes (for some reason) always seem to get lost, so I typically avoid those Comment from : @ModernStacker |
Dimes for me because they are cheaper, take up less space, lower denomination making it easier for purchase and “exact” change Comment from : @shadowscreamer1 |
I love war nickels…call me Daddy War Nickels! Comment from : @diyapia |
Thanks for the insight📈📈 Comment from : @stopsleepingstarteating |
It’s junk when I buy it but constitutional when I’m selling it Comment from : @privateuser9303 |
I have about an ounce of 90🇺🇸 junk silver but most of my junk silver collection is 80🇨🇦 junk silver Comment from : @silvershockwave4848 |
You should have some junk silver because of its fractional value in the event of SHTF But the best value will always be in 999 silver For example, JM Bullion has generic silver rounds for 2784 per ounce for a tube of 20 Spot price is currently 2226 Junk silver (dimes, quarters, or halves - their choice) is 21907 for 10 dollars face So to get the actual price per ounce you multiply 21907 times 14, which gives you the price of 3067 a difference of 284 per ounce That's significant and that's why I have a minimal amount of junk silver Junk silver only has value as fractional silver Comment from : @cephasmartin8593 |
I'm new to silver stacking I actually found a Morgan dollar and some 50s and 67s Canadian quarter Comment from : @handduggraverdronline |
Wouldn't 10 half dollar 40 silver equal a oz of silver Comment from : @handduggraverdronline |
Of course, the advantage of having some of each of the junk silver is the same as today with modern alloy coins; namely, you can easily combine them to make purchases So in a societal breakdown scenario, junk silver becomes your go-to currency So I stack a balanced array of junk silver They are also beautiful coinage Comment from : @bestpossibleworld2091 |
What bullion company are you advertising for Comment from : @kevinfontaine2061 |
I started stacking silver dollars I was getting CULL Morgan’s 4 over spot but as silver premiums increased, so did they I also started off with 40 Kennedy’s because I was getting them at spot and I learned that about 7 of them make up a Troy ounce of silver so I did that for awhile After 6 tubes and becoming more educated on stacking from stackers like silver dragons and yankee stacking, I focused on dimes bc i was getting them for cents over spot Quarters as well I also stack Canadian silver My coin dealer sells me Canadian silver by the weights of the coins Comes out to be a very good deal I have been stacking for almost a year and almost all my stack consists of constitutional silver Comment from : @dominickmarino6680 |
I wonder which silver enthusiast will 1st address this question that has not been answered yet, ‘’ If silver will go to the moon soon will it come down and will it ever go to great heights again in 5 years distant future EVER again? Comment from : @ronnie2803 |
I go with Franklins and mercury dime because they are instantly recognized as silver Don’t need a loop to check dates Comment from : @craigj1479 |
If no one likes war nickels now, who will buy them later?? that's why I stay away from them Bad investment if you ask me Comment from : @chrisoverholts8816 |
You buy Silver Dollars at a high premium, and you sell them at a high premium brSo other than a doomsday or serious survival scenario What's the big deal???? Comment from : @JACKPAVAL |
War nickels just dont have enough silver content to justify stacking, it takes way to many of them to get to am ounce, and silver dollars have much more premium because they have collectible value, i personally dont consider them junk silver because they basically always sell for more than their silver content, half dollars and dimes are easily the best of junk silver Comment from : @monkeman1912 |
Excellent junk overview You and I are 100 almost aligned, as you seem quite analytic about this topic I have an emotional hate of Washington quarters, and don’t know why, but love barbers and standing liberties Love the Kennedy half - lots of "meat" on those Dimes are an all-time winner in my book - the perfect barter item should that ever be needed Dollars are an acquired taste, but they do have more silver per face dollar in them Comment from : @oledog8391 |
My first collection as a gift was the mercury dime set in 1978 in the dansco album So I agree with you about the dimes as stacking When you stack the dimes how do you protect them? Comment from : @jrtjonathanwinchell3955 |
Halves & dimes for stacking brMercury's & walkers (this is because there is no confusion as the keneddies & Roosevelt 's eventually loose the silver content 🤷) only reason other them the Mercury's and walkers are my favorite US coins :)brbrI also collect world silverbr cause I can often get them for spot at my local coin shop 🙌 and I love the variety Comment from : @andrewderksen3342 |
Canadian "Maple Leaf" coins are 9999 fine silver - vs - The American "Silver Eagles" which are 999 fine silver brbrSeems (to me, anyway) like Maple Leaf coins are better quality Silver than our Silver Eagles! Perhaps even worth more?brbrEDIT:brbr just noticed that this video is from 5 months ago! 😖 Probably have a newer one that explains this! Oh well Comment from : @robertaviles8451 |
from my bank? ive checked my bank, the teller says shes worked there for about 7 years and never seen half dollars come in dollars yes, and i've founds a few keepers from those but no half dollars ever Comment from : @wowmageturtle15 |
Look for the 1794 flowing hair dollar I recently did a money short on that Comment from : @TheTreasureSeeker01 |
Great video👍! However, I have a question What are the BEST coins to acquire to prepare for an shtf and the "fiat" currency crashes? What would you suggest?🤔🤔 Comment from : @LisaAnn164 |
My LCS sells circulated dollars for $2 over spot when they have them Comment from : @dannydyer9961 |
I think war nickels are a great investment option because they are the single most fractional silver of all the Constitutional silver War nickels are also super cheap War nickels are also an amazing thing to have for weighing down your safe so that thieves can't steal your silver War nickels don't count as far as taxes go You could sell millions of them and fly completely under the radar as far as taxes go That's pretty amazing if you ask me Comment from : @benjamingregersen9777 |
My preference is dimes and quarters More divisible Comment from : @practicaloccultist231 |
Good video, this will probably send me more towards dimes if there is a choice, but all 90 percent is good Comment from : @joehruska8223 |
Shoot I hope none of y’all like em cause I love the silver quarters best Dimes second either rosie or merc! Freaking only love the coins though Screw bars Comment from : @davisonburnett6273 |
Wrong, wrong, wrong !!!! Junk silver is 90 silver coins with NO NUMISMATIC VALUE ! WHY DON'T YOU KNOW THIS ? Comment from : @weniwidiwici726 |
Right on! Brian same here Comment from : @terryblack4385 |
I like the Morgan’s brSure they cost a premium to buy but you can get it back when selling Comment from : @BlizzardPeak |
I get the quarters for 97 over spot Comment from : @rogersavary2887 |
I think we will be kicking ourselves in the behind by not grabbing some It’s a long term play for me Comment from : @omniconsultinggroup7359 |
I collected the most expensive stuff for the low back in 2015 now I am focused on the oldies because it WILL go up an I don’t want to buy at those prices Don’t short yourself stacker family I believe it will go up It has tooo I look at it as a bargain This would also be fun for your grandkids I wouldn’t mine just giving it them Comment from : @omniconsultinggroup7359 |
Why don't you mention that the cheapest way to buy junk is the MIXED bags? If you specify only "Half Dollars" when buying, you will pay a premium for that Comment from : @92679gary |
so I must be doing it right, I got a few 21 Morgans $1 over spot, a few different halfs at face from box hunts and maybe a little more over spot the ones that bite me are the dimes but I want to diversify my "junk" silver Comment from : @David_Quinn1995 |

I haven't watched this yet but I'm going to guess Merc dimes Comment from : @WFStudios |
I started with junk Morgans & Peace dollars, not into numismatics Now Eagles & rounds & bars Just looked at silver price today - $2670, 2-27-2021, needs to go higher before I sell Already retired, so not buying more, unless it goes below $1500 again, which I doubt Stack on! Comment from : @66block84 |
Your channel makes me happy I like this community a lot Everyone is tryna do the same thing Comment from : @prolaxbro4474 |
Of all the Junk Silver, I like Washington Quarters the best Comment from : @kenkaufman9998 |
I prefer certified used silver, I coined the term Comment from : @nicks4523 |
I just got into stacking and watched this brbrI was digging through the junk at my LCS and found a few Kennedy proofs from 2003 and 2004 which weirded me out but, apparently, they're 90 FYI brbrI'm no expert but I think the best thing you can do is to do the math At my LCS the halves were $1 over melt but the dollars (cull) were way over melt and $3 over spot Dimes were also much higher per ounce of silver you were buying although I realize they're smaller brbrEnjoying the videos They're very helpful Comment from : @willscarborough9089 |
Junk ? Comment from : @razorback7158 |
Another thing that makes it feel like it was worth the effort of sorting my $1,500 spare change collection into years, the first step in seeking out valuable coins in the mix Comment from : @matthewwynne939 |

90 silver State and America the Beautiful PROOF 1999-2018 quarters are the best 90 silver Best condition and appearance/least wear, and cost the same or sometimes less than pre-1965 quarters Comment from : @GarandNewbie |
You also got 40 silver coins in the USA from 1965 to 1970 I believe , 40 is better than 35 in the war nickels , and it certainly a lot more off and about in circulation Comment from : @powerplay4real174 |
Does 2 halves not weigh more than 10 dimes? Comment from : @999metals |
All of them! The shinier the better ;)brFor societal breakdown situations itd be great to have a few big bags of silver dimes Comment from : @Helmholtzwatson1984 |
