You forget to mention that in many cases trading in is better than selling privately as you only pay sales tax on the diff in the selling and purchasing price if you trade Sell privately and you pay full tax on new car So, depending on price of vehicles it may pay to trade Comment from : @SG-sz5vh

I don’t understand about fixing damage before trading in The dealer has access to wholesale repairs For example, for me to fix a clicking cv joint, it would cost me $600 at a local garage But the part is $100, and the dealership garage can put it in in one hour In my estimation, the dealer can take care of it for $200 Yet I realize I’m still wrong Can you explain why they wanted/tried to deduct $2,000 for this issue?
