Absolutely not You have zero obligation to reach back out to them The reason why is because they should have done the due diligence and sent the coin off before even bringing it in Comment from : @echosmyth2282 |
My issue from your post is that ANACS or any grading service can be this far off from the proper grade? That is shocking to say the least and the grading service should be liable for losses as well Comment from : @mikeames1427 |
To be honest, I would take the profit if I had a coin graded and it turned out to be worth more They should have sent it for grading to be sure We are busy! Comment from : @andrewskrypnyk1338 |

I do see the dilemma At what point between being a dollar off or being a thousand dollars off do you call the guy I guess I would err on the side of caution and try to imagine what I would want or expect if the roles were reversed If it was a dollar, and the guy called me back I'ld thank him for his honesty and tell him to forget about it If it was a hundred or a couple of hundred bucks, I would thank him for his honesty and would want a rebate or the coin back if dealer didn't want it at that price Being "extra honest" will pay in the long run when the guy tells all of his buddies how well he was treated, and all of them become customers Comment from : @mikekazmark9316 |
Not a gray area to me He relied on your expertise and took your word for what it was worth and trusted that it was accurate If you were wrong, you should tell him Get everyone's phone number Comment from : @mikekazmark9316 |

Daniel, I appreciate your ability to discuss both sides of the conversation I collect coins because I enjoy the coin's beauty, uniqueness and history I have paid above average value for coins, and I have purchased coins at fabulous deals Most of my research is based on photo grading, and I often find myself questioning graded prices vs ungraded prices The bottom line is if I'm willing to pay any price, it's because I really like the coin, or I see a great deal Comment from : @elrojo2269 |
I was going to a coin dealer that would get lots of coins to be graded and if somebody got in on it they would pay the price for the coin that they had graded Comment from : @stuartmcalpine9468 |
No, dude, once you have purchased it the coin is yours to keep profit Comment from : @charispenny7965 |
What my dealer does is he sends a coin out for me so he can add it to his shipment because the more coins he sends for grading the better of a deal he gets per coin so he just puts my name on it and when it comes back he contacts me and I just pay him back for the grading of that coin its very nice of him to do that for me that way we both save a little money Comment from : @cweedcoins1640 |
Hello and Greetings from Down Under 🪃🦘brThanks for your interesting videobrI personally believe once the person, sells that coin to you, that's it,,end of story, if it comes back a high grade, that's all yours, iam sure the seller knows the gamble of the gameanyway that's my personal opinion🤜🏻🤛🏻🕶👍🏻Cheers 🍻 Comment from : @maurogarreffa6719 |

I think if you the customer does not want to take the risk and send it off how can they expect a reward if it comes out better than expected are you supposed to call them if you lose money? No , than nothing should be expected my opinion its not a rip off its doing business Comment from : @daviddealba9886 |
Excellent subject and very well explained Thank you Comment from : @stephanieroberts1394 |

Well also, the opposite is true, if it comes back lower grade , you gonna call the customer and say "You owe me $100, it came back less" Do not think so High risk, High reward Comment from : @kennytinker24 |
That quarter he bought I wouldn't even pay 2 dollars for it Comment from : @nicholusevans969 |
These coin places are bs I have so many good coins but really don't trust anyone and I'm always hearing different value price on coins frankly I'm getting tired of the coin world it's all garbage u have to have money and go to auctions Comment from : @nicholusevans969 |
For $200 you can buy 7 oz of silver Why would anybody be stupid enough to buy one of these coins when they could just buy silver rounds? People really are dumb Comment from : @CharlieDontSurf1006 |
Not really a gray area unless you’re trying to scam someone or they come to you for your professional advice/services and you knowingly lie to them There is a lot of risk with buying items for a project/estimated value or resale Paying a fair price is not cut and dry The value is only what someone is willing to pay for it Buyers at full retail don’t always exist and saying something is worth a specific amount doesn’t mean it will sell Sell through rates do apply So buying something for personal use is different than for business Just because someone says an item is worth a set price doesn’t make it sell at that price, there must be a buyer Not over paying means you stay in business and have inventory at competitive prices and able to make a profit Comment from : @dawnchristine1344 |
Can't hear you Pointless Comment from : @christopherpennington106 |
Honestly, some people think that coin dealers make their living out of thin air Comment from : @fxavier45 |
I think your video is very interesting and you have a great point about getting a coin graded it can make a big difference!! Thank you!! Comment from : @edhindle9131 |
Many people have sent the same coin in to different grading services or even in some cases to the same grading services, and gotten different mint state numbers brbrI agree that if you’re worried about it as a seller to a coin shop, you need to get the coin graded first Comment from : @kitrichardson5573 |
Simple you have a business and it’s to make money so you can’t feel bad about situations like that if they want let them send it in Comment from : @LuisPerez-es3di |
No, you owe the seller nothing more! You take the risk and pay the fee to grade it It's a gamble You pay way less than the " anticipated" graded value Comment from : @rocco265 |
So one of my first coins was a meiji one yen that graded gem that I got for around 10 of its book value in the wild brFor that I went back to the guy who sold it to me and gave him an extra 100 bucks brIt wasn't enough by any means to compensate him but I thought I should do it anywaybrHowever I DEFINITELY agree that a coin bought in the wild might not grade out Grading is subjective and the difference between top pop and nothing good is not that bigbrCase in point I submitted 4 coins to PCGS a few months ago The coin is rare and there aren't many at all but I specifically had been looking for them I had the joint top pop already at MS67 I liked all 4 coins and thought there wasn't that much difference Now PCGS graded one of them as cleaned which I disagree with, the next was MS62 The worst of the bunch in my opinion graded MS63 And the best one graded out as MS68 the single top pop Okay we aren't talking about super expensive coins (Being rare doesn't make it valuable) but I was still shocked as to the differencesbrYou ALWAYS take a risk with grading companies so I don't see why there should be any going back to people usually with the exception of A) if there is just a huge jump in value you can always give a small amount or B) If you completely missed some ultra rare variety in the coin In that situation going back would make some sense morally speaking Comment from : @thisismonitor4099 |
Like buying something at a garage sale that turns out to be priceless (or worthless) Do you go back??? Comment from : @fixnkev |
no you should call him back u took the risk he could have sent in himself but he didnt Comment from : @archatek8074 |
My question is if I would send valuable coin to pcwg it last in the Mail is risk what you think Comment from : @abukarsateofficialsubscrib6753 |
10:47 Coin shops are in business to make money, not to collect coins You have to re sell the coin There is no crime in making a profit Businesses would not be in business if they rip off their customers Comment from : @saramoran3961 |
When a coin price is agreed upon and the cash is paid, the seller is done with the sale If the coin is graded and comes back as a GEM, the buyer gets the benefit Comment from : @terrancenorris9992 |

Whenever I’ve made too much of a profit on a customer, I try to give them a little extra on the next trade (if it’s a regular client)brI’m ok with breaking even on the next trade if I’ve made too much on the previous Comment from : @shanethrelfall416 |
you made an offerthey decided to sell Its YOUR property now Its that simple Comment from : @theshitshow-em3fk |
I think you are thinking way too much about this and unnecessarily so We aren't talking about taking advantage of newbies or the uneducated It's a gamble of people who are more informed than most Offering someone a decent deal isn't ripping people off because the inverse is also not going to happen if you over pay ie "This coin turned out less valuable than I thought give me some money back" *customer proceeds to give you money back* Comment from : @SpankMyMonkey_SpankItGood |
You da man 😊 Comment from : @bamsixsevenone4567 |
I am 64 and have collected coins for many years My humble opinion is that no matter the grade, someone is going to say it's over graded, and some one is going to say it's under graded I like raw coins because I don't need a third party to grade the coin If I buy a coin or sell a coin, I put a grade on it and a price on it and either pay the price or sell it for a price In other words if I don't want it I don't buy it and if someone doesn't want to pay my price I sit on it and waite Comment from : @chuckswain8299 |
If its worth more, good on you sir Comment from : @jimnagelnagel1120 |
