At least one state requires tax to be paid on Sovereign minted coins like Eagles, Maple Leafs, Krugerands etc That tacks on an extra $150-$200 on top of the premium over spot if you're buying a full ounce That almost forces the stackers in that state to buy bars

I think if you had to quickly liquify your gold, coins would appeal to a broader base of purchasers for all the reasons you mentioned I prefer coins vs bars as well, just be sure to purchase whichever you choose from a reputable dealer Great video

I own bars and coins Most of the bars I own were purchased close to the spot price, or even at spot The coins were purchased at a premium, (never more than 5 above spot) That said, I've never had an issue selling gold coins at above spot, but bars can be tricky to sell Some coin shops will not purchase gold bars, only gold coins In addition, they just don't command a premium upon resale
