I had purchased a few in the past, but not for a few years now: I don't like either one at this time The popularity of them has driven the premiums too high This is similar to an almost numismatic value which might evaporate when the dollar collapses everyone will only be interested in the metal itself, not how popular it was before the world caved in Collectable markets take a HUGE nose dive in economic downturns, and really some people regard the Gold Eagle almost AS a collectable they certainly assign non-intrinsic extra value to it above and beyond the gold content If you want a 1 ounce coin that's 22 karat, consider a Krugerrand Even non-stackers know what a Krug is, they're in every other 80's movie released Widely recognized worldwide ACTUAL money in South Africa, not just a gold coin Super low premiums compared to either of these And if you want a 999 purity coin, consider a Maple Leaf Again, lower premium than The Eagle JMO
