I've been seeing this debate of Eagles VS Buffalos and I although I am on a budget, I would still like to get one of each some day, so I can truthfully say I own both Since I'm on a budget, I simply cannot regularly stack 1oz gold coins, so fractional eagles are my main gold stack Comment from : @dukenukemani07 |

24K gold will always have more worldwide acceptance and is even tax exempt vs 22K pieces in some places, though here in the States the eagles seem to be traded more and produced in higher numbers As far as design I like the buffalo design more overall but like Sal mentioned, the issues with finning and off center strikes is a let down As for the eagles, the new portrait design on the Type II reverse is an improvement over the type 1 in my opinion Comment from : @abraham3981 |

Eagles are preferred over Buffalos because it's available in fractionals It's more symbolic of the United States and more recognizable, that's why more Americans buy Eagles Eagles also have higher liquidity When you buy gold bullion coins, you want to buy ones that have high liquidity if you sell them down the road Comment from : @goldmaple5290 |

As far as appearance, I personally rate them as follows: AGE Obverse #1, Buffalo Reverse #2, Buffalo Obverse #3, and AGE Reverse #4 Right now the AGEs are trending a touch higher in sales/buy-backs, but I could see that perhaps reversing (again) As far as stacking, I tend to see them as equivalent vehicles, doing the same job Since I'm stacking for generational preservation of wealth, I'm not bothered by a few dollars of deviation between the two Comment from : @andyreznick |
