The standing liberty/eagles with the alloy are much more durable and can take being handled, but the buffalo is my favorite just to look at and it's purity

I noticed on some websites (sd bullion & apmex) the 1/2 gold american eagle proofs (capsule only) are less than the bullion coins Are the proofs valued less than the bullion coins ?

The Gold Eagle was designed before the popularity of plexiglass disk type holders so it is more durable I kept mine in plastic sleeves, because I like to look at them But the plastic holders are a better method that allows you to take better care of your coins I think I got some scratches on my gold coins, from handling them back in the 1990s Anyways, the current fanaticism for GOLD (!!!) is making me think about getting some holders I do not like slabs, as you can't take the coin out of them IMHO

Great presentation and fine description of the make-up of the 22-karat Eagle And yeahyou really can't go wrong with either coin I mostly have Eagles (and a couple Maple Leafs), but I'm positive I'll add a Buff to the mix at some point BEAUTIFUL piece! So far as having something that anyone would recognize and would be happy to buy from you, you can't go wrong with the Buff, the Eagle, the Maple Leaf, and the Krugerrand

The Buffalo is beautiful, now if the US mint could only get to the purity of gold that is in the RCM's 99999 gold coins Like the RCM's "wildlife series", that also come in an assayed card, they are very nice I wish the US mint would step up and really compete with the purity of the RCM 's coins and maybe put them in an assayed card
