I have a social work License, took me 6 years to get/ and I have a Health insurance license, that one took me 6 months to accomplish I make more money with my Insurance license - I still do both Sometimes money isnt everything

Social workers are not necessarily broke, with a MSW degree and experiences, we can make a decent living depending on what setting we are working in, I am a Medical Social worker and with experience in Geriatric care and I make 90k annually We are the people always working in the frontlines providing essential services and meeting the most basic needs of people and making a difference in their life It is a rewarding profession Although it could be stressful sometimes, it is def a profession worth pursuing ! Keep up the good work u r doing, my fellow social workers out there !

I agree, it's basically about perspective For the TYPE of work that social workers do they're definitely underpaid However Social workers that can manage their money well and gain experience and credentials they will be able to be financially stable and should be okay depending on the job they're working

To break it down a bit better BSW pay is very low for someone with a Bachelors Degree Even with a Masters the pay still doesn't equal out unless you have your own private practice I have a friend who graduated with a degree is logistics management and he got a job starting off at 80K a year And they are paying for his masters degree

Since being a MSW my salary increased over 20,000 That is a big jump in my income that allowed me to move to the suburbs I am also planning on becoming licensed early next year; therefore, it will allow me to earn more
