No wonder why a single permanently disabled black woman as myself couldn't find a social worker or case manager to get out of an abusive dysfunctional toxic environment you are all too busy trying to turn into Bill gates or Donald trump You all are just as discriminatory and classiest as these racist prejudice non black social workers I am not saying you should not make good salaries or hourly wages but there are great people who have been needing assistance dealing with forms of racism and oppression and are not being assisted and whom are being victimized or dying because of not receiving any help even if they have the finances and great Healthcare insurance to pay for it This pisses me off as supportive and as multi talented as I was to black professionals and black excellence and I end up permanently disabled and abused and I have contacted too many organizations through this country and I should have received some advocacy and protections years before COVID hit in March 2020

I wonder what State are you in? All those salaries are so low I’m in Texas and starting salaries are much higher Medical social worker jobs averages about $65k-$75k as a starting salary

I went government and became a Children's Social Worker for DCFS in LA county I promoted to Supervisor in 2014, and I make a six-figure salary I didn't bother getting my LCSW, because I work policy, work with the courts, train, manage To me going the administrative route was more fulfilling and more lucrative Great benefits, as this is not taken out of my salary, it's given to me as an added monthly allowance My benefits cost comes out of that allowance

Just so you are aware military social workers can easily make $60-90,000 depending on location I can give you more details if desired but it is an incredibly professionally rewarding and financially stable/lucrative job

Hey! I have a BA in Psychology but I am thinking on becoming a social worker and getting a MSW I would like to know if social workers have to do counseling at all times or settings Or is it just helping people by just following up or mostly providing sources that can help I get anxiety when speaking in groups or just being the center of attention therefore this is one of my biggest concern

I worked at a psych hospital for a few years It’s hard work But, I loved the fast pace and the constant changes brbrThat job taught me sooooo much and I grew so much as a social worker The hospital I was at payed a way more because they had us wear many hats and it was a very busy job Most days I worked 10 hoursbrbrbrIt was a wild time in life, but it was what I needed The thing I struggled with the most was the families Families were so complicated and often times I provided more therapy and referrals for families I loved it but I knew I couldn’t do it forever

However, I’ll have to respectfully disagree with the article when it mentions “speech pathology” as a career for social workers It is a career that is highly specialized and it requires an accredited graduate level degree in speech pathology in order to practice I looked into speech pathology as a possible career path before deciding on social work so it surprised me to see it on the list Don’t get me wrong, speech pathology it’s a great field, just too much anatomy for my liking 😅 I mean, they have you do cadaver labs 😳… no thanks 🥴 lol But your insights on the other jobs, especially the ones you’ve had experience with, were really helpful! Thank you for the great content!
