Here in Germany the 1kg bar marks the last signifikant drop in premium It's considerably less than for the 500g bars There are also 5kg and 15kg bars but it doesn't make much of a difference in terms of premium So 1kg is pretty much the sweet spot unless you really want huge bars

Anything under an Ozt for bullion of grade 999 or better, the premium is too high to make it worth while brKg are the best to buy because the preiums are lower brIf you're just stacking to stack silver, private mints are the best because the premiums are at the bottom of the scale brSilver Eagles premiums are way to high for my liking, as i don't want to pay much over spot and having a 6-10 premium on an Ozt for silver is not desirable brJunk can be worth while if you find a dealer with low premiums, and not so much worried about numismatic value which can get confusing brI just stack private mint bullion ozt and kg So if i have to get cash gor any reason I'll get as close to dollar value as possible

I would say you want a variety Just like we have pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters, you would want a variety of sizes in the event you would like or need to purchase items that vary in price The only thing that stinks is the smaller you go, the higher premium you pay So if you can buy bulk, I think it would be fun and cheaper to cast the small bullion yourself

The smaller the buillion, the higher the premium so bigger is better if you want bang for your buck However, if currency tanks and you have to use your precious metals to barter with, you are going to want them in small denominations You aren't going to want to pay for a gallon of milk w/ a 10 ounce bar of silver You'd rather have some gram bars Buying any form of silver or gold right now is a wise investment I feel silver is less volatile and might spike before gold

When buying a particular size bar, another factor I would consider is transportation security to and from a local buyer/seller I just wouldn't feel very comfortable walking around with a 100toz $2,500 bar (7 pounds) of silver Not only difficult to carry but more difficult to conceal, so it would be much less likely to be overlooked by any mugger
