I was 11 in 1975 and my parents would not let me see Jaws because of the gore/horror I had to wait till 1978 when they replayed it at the local theatres

I can't believe a back lot manager took the decision to destroy one of the most important pieces of movie memorabilia in film history; Spielberg had every right to blow his stop on that one and whomever that was should be banished forever, next thing he'll do is burn the Ruby Slippers

🇨🇦 I didn't feel safe swimming in our local lake for years after I saw JAWS in our little-town theater, on a little screen, in mono, even though I knew that their could not possibly be a shark within a thousand miles of our little Canadian prairie town It's crazy how the mind works I wish they would re-release it in stereo and laser picture I would go for sure One of the best ever made

When I worked on KITT Back in the 80's I used to walk over and check out The Orca and the Shark and sit on the pier and eat my lunch and watch the Tour Trams and wave at them , I think that they thought I was part of the show I just waved back, finished my lunch and went back to work on KITT

Amazing insight and observation's, but what a terrible way to make a documentary The constantly loud unnecessary music (Not the John Williams score) over many parts And the repetitive zoom in/outs on still photographs Just show the damn photo! Unless there is some kind of reveal to justify it but they did it on almost every photo Why??? just made me feel sick Unable to watch till the end so annoying

The shot of the shark opening its mouth wider before attacking Alex Kitner was very effective I'm sorry the in-camera outtake wasn't preserved I saw the still in a magazine before seeing the movie and that image was frightening

This all revolves around the USS Indianapolis This "hint" is given during Quint's monologue He explains it very clearly if you listen to him Quint escaped the "jaws of death" while many other sailors did not He survived but only later to match the fate of his fellow-sailors later After surviving, he went on through life with a heart of revenge, killing shark after shark after shark It's why Batman fights crime after his parents are murdered through the heart of crime Quint is the same way, however he had sailors waiting for him in the heart of the sea But fate inevitably had its way at the end It is the ultimate pay off A beautiful, tragic story

This happened in 1992 My friends and I were on the coast of North Carolina for vacation We had ran the beach and to cool off, we jumped into the ocean All of us were probably about 100 yards from the shoreline, just kind of hovering, when 2 of the guys in our group suddenly started swimming for the beach I figured that they were just ready to go back so i didn't really give it too much thought The next thing i know, 2 more guys did the same thing Just abruptly and with no words or warnings, made a straight line to the beach Now, it was just me and my friend Suddenly, we noticed everyone on the beach, stand up and run to the edge of the water My buddy said " that can't be good" We having just watched Jaws for the umpteenth time a week before, realized what was probably happening So, we began to swim in, the entire time being freaked the f out As we got a little less than waste deep, i looked to my right and watched the water fold into itself in the strangest way There are no words to really describe it but, you could tell that something was causing it to happen The next thing i know, i felt some hit my lower leg It felt like a sledgehammer My feet went from under me and i land face first into the shallows My friends ran into the water and pulled me onto the beach People were standard around me and my first thought was, " is my leg gone?" Nope No bite, no blood However, i had one helluva of a bruise that formed on my leg and my knee was sore for weeks for bending in an odd direction While i was still on the beach, i sat up and everyone was pointing and sure enough, you could see the fin slicing through the water Needless ti say, that was the day i retired from going into the ocean Lakes and swimming pools for me from that day forward

From the first second Jaws to the last second, this movie entertains you like no other movie It's also those little things that does it for me like for example; when Hooper visits Brody in his house with red wine and white wine he said to his wife he likes to talk with her husband and she says So do I Jaws is not just a creature feature but also an incredible feast for compelling dialogs between characters

Although none of the sequels (especially #4 The Revenge 🤮) could ever live up to the Original, the tagline for Jaws 2 was awesome - “Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water” I’ve always remembered what a great tagline that was It’s actually better than the movie itself 🤣

I was a 6 year old child when I saw JAWS in 1975 at the cinema It took me 40 years to finally stop thinking so much about JAWS when I went swimming It really did screw up my generation and the two generations before, who saw JAWS on its initial release

Does that 'legacy' include the shameful decimation of the shark community because Spielberg and his cronies wanted to portray the shark as a 'child-killer'? At least, Benchley spent the rest of his life in tears at what he had done to sharks, and founded a movement to help sharks and restore their numbers I myself, as a five year old taken to see this film by my irresponsible mother, was traumatized for life after seeing Robert Shaw being literally eaten alive and dragged into the water screaming I had to be taken out of the cinema in tears I couldn't even have a bath for years Spielberg needs to atone for this monumental error What a cun$!

On Martha’s Vineyard in 1990 my girlfriend got mad at me for only wanting to see the Jaws locations At that time the wooden pond bridge looked the same (today is a big concrete overpass), and in Menemsha the stunt Orca for the end sinking was still mostly intact on the beach The Deli in Menemsha still had the “Richard Dreyfuss” sandwich on the board - “Turkey on Rye with Light Dijon”
