If I may, I want to explore the mayor’s character While he clearly isn’t a hero he’s no the flat villain that people think he isbrbrEvery reactor I’ve seen has gotten the mayor’s motivation wrong He’s not trying to make money just to roll around in it He’s lobbying for the survival of the townbrbrI’m a tour guide by trade and I know what it is to depend on making a year’s worth of profits in 3 months The woman who yells, «24 hours is like three weeks” is right! brbrThe Mayor’s job is to protect the town’s safety, and in that respect he failed But he’s also responsible for the town’s economy and protecting people’s ability to make money Their very survival is dependent on the summer season! The shark is a threat but so is financial ruinbrbrThis puts the mayor in a bad position, so he does what most people in his position would do He goes into denialbrbrHe convinces himself that there is no problem, that the shark attacks were freak events It’s not until his own kids are at risk that he realizes it’s a real problem and it’s not going away Comment from : @jtoland2333 |

Jaws is a perfect film and the best horror film I’ve ever seen The story, characters and atmosphere is great The cast is amazing, especially Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss, and this truly launched Steven Spielberg’s career as well as giving birth to the summer blockbuster as we know it as it’s the first film to make over 100 million dollars world wide on its initial release The score by John Williams is iconic and defiantly deserved the Academy Award he won for this film It’s a masterpiece Comment from : @Jared_Wignall |

I like the videobut how the hell is he saying that this is a monster movie? Comment from : @craigperry5729 |

We went on vacation every July/ AugustSo, after seeing it in the theater, I was up playing in a river I was too young to realize that sharks don't live in rivers I was scared *#$@LESS! My older bro pulling on my feet whenever I went in the water didn't help! I've got a great pic of him in a beach chair reading the book JAWS Comment from : @PONY3113 |

My favorite Film of All Time! 🦈❤️🔥 Comment from : @scorptarget |

Carnivorous animals (predators) are not dumb, neither are they monsters; great whites can think 80 times faster than a cat, and they use strategy by relying on ambush tactics Lions and wolves hunt as a team (wolf pack/lion pride) as they cooperate and coordinate their hunting skills Crocodilians are patient opportunistic ambush predators that have good memories - remembering each hunting area, and knowing when the prey items are on the move Why do predators eat when they get hungry to survive? Predators do this to keep nature balanced, and keep the overgrowing populations of prey in check Predator and prey is the kind of relationship that has one purpose: to preserve life Comment from : @kylevansteelandt3971 |

Still my favourite film of all time I don't class it as a monster movie though as the shark is almost garnish to the story I've seen it at least sixty times and the blu-ray is stunning Don't know about the 4k as I've not got nor intending to get a 4k set-up Simply can't afford it and to be honest I've grown tired of replacing my film collection with the latest format Love my blu-ray so I'm gonna leave it there Comment from : @SHOPFLOORTONE |
This is my absolute favorite movie since I was 12 It’s such an iconic film and deserves that number 1 spot for me Comment from : @ToxicKittiSP |

The reason why jaws is still the greatest monster movie is because everyone is mostly afraid of Sharks in their phobia of the ocean I don't like the third jaws just because it's boring it doesn't show the main character that killed the Shark in the first one his name is chief Martin Brody I liked all scenes of Martin which is jaws 1 and 2 there was a Flashback in jaws the revenge shows Martin Brody from the first Jaws that Ellen Brody was thinking of so hooper didn't get a Oscar award for best actor I'm sorry for you the Oscar award winning for best actor in jaws is Roy Schieder he is the Superhero that killed a 121 foot longest Shark that's really impressive he has no horror or fear in Bruce the Shark was actually why jaws is the best monster movie is because of the mayor Vaughn is the mayor of Shark city that he created a monster of closing all public beaches because of the most dangerous Animal that's ever been made firing chief Martin Brody is the worst thing that the mayor has done I don't know why he doesn't have any faith in him for proving that Martin is right Comment from : @jenniferperry1904 |
Boring monotonebut interesting Still a great film I would suggest recording this again with a helpful dramatic coach to give it expression Your narration is excellent, but the narration is dull and monotonous For JAWS!!!! Please try again Comment from : @marysheeran519 |
It didn't try to be a horror or an action movie tbh, everything that happened just seemed totally natural, the way the characters acted and interacted with each other made them feel like real people with their own motivations and beliefs and their reasons for doing everything they did were totally reasonablebrbrThe only behavior that wasn't natural was the shark's which perhaps is why the idea that a shark would go rogue and start preying on humans like they were seals once it got to a certain size seemed so believable and combined with the horror of it's theme, pov, ambushes camouflaged beneath the surface, and superior strength and swimming skills in order to catch prey it just made it seem like all sharks could be bloodthirsty man-eatersbrbrRather than presenting this shark as a monster it made it seem like it was just an ordinary shark acting naturally so that's why when people think of sharks as man-eaters they don't necessarily think of this shark or even white pointers but any shark because it's just their nature (which is false but ingrained in our psyche now) which is why it doesn't feel like a horror It's like an animal species viewing all humans as having the nature of serial killers so when watching a slasher movie they don't see it as a horror but rather humans just being humans because they're dangerous animals that are to be avoided at all costs Comment from : @clintonalver2715 |
Jaws is probably my favorite movie and still one of the only movie adaptations I think is genuinely better than the book Comment from : @Clovers1313 |

Hooper doesn't become obsessed with the shark, he arrives there already obsesed His arc is proving himself to all the people who dismiss him as soft because of his background And I agree, that "because I need it" scene is one of the all time bests Comment from : @vanyadolly |
The most iconic movies of the 20th Century by Spielberg / Lucas like JAWS, Star Wars, Close Encounters, Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET, have ONE thing in common that made them masterpieces, ok two things The editing, which is the most underrated aspect of any film, and John Williams scores NONE of the movies would be the same without the brilliance of John Williams Comment from : @michaelb42112 |
Movie was mid Watched it for the first time as a 30 yr old Comment from : @chugachugachewy |

It honestly begs the question, is it possible to make a monster movie this good on purpose? Considering that much of what made jaws so good happened by accident Comment from : @samuelwallace2782 |

Spielberg movies never seem to age You can watch “Jaws”, “Close Encounters”, “Jurassic Park,” “ET”, or “Saving Private Ryan”, and while the cinematography styles change, they carry over certain techniques and perspective shots that are genuinely good They’re not experimental techniques specific to a decade, or bland, overused techniquesbrbrThe perfect examples are the dinner table scenes, Brody’s glasses reflecting the book pages he’s flipping through, and the spotlight cutting through the fog onto Ben Gardner’s boat Comment from : @chrisbullard5901 |
JAWS will never be remade, and nor should it There is no improving on perfection Comment from : @NomnomJawsnomnom |

12:16 "The USS Indianapolis, a MASSIVE AIRCRAFT CARRIER" (proceeds to actually show the correct image) ummmm the USS Indianapolis was a modest sized Heavy Cruiser, and quite tiny to the big Carriers of WWII that was NOT an aircraft carrier Comment from : @wolfshanze5980 |
Love this movie Seen it dozens of times To me it’s the dialogue that makes it work It also gave me a fondness for the ocean, sharks etc Comment from : @billdivine9501 |
well done!! Comment from : @jemwarren91 |
I love this film because of its simplicity Anything sordid, distracting or irrelevant has been removed from the novel to tell a pure, direct story Comment from : @lance7607 |
Great analysis of THE masterpiece Comment from : @jesusislord7526 |
The movie is pretty good I just wish it didn't have such an damaging legacy on sharks Shortly after the movie release there was such a massive influx in shark derbys and general trophy hunting it caused multi generational effects on the perspective of sharks To anyone who grew up in the post 1995 you wont really understand However, the movie released when information was not as abundant and accessible which left people with Jaws as their main introduction/understanding to sharks brbrShark week, which peter was the first host of also went down this path Which is why Peter did not return Shark week actively uses jaws language and editing while claiming to be for educational purposes brbr When do you ever create such a biologically damaging fiction novel/movie and end up regretting it Peter spending the rest of his time undoing the damage he had done Mundus being the inspiration for Quint also spent much of his later life trying to fix the damage he had done brI understand the love people had for it especially if they grew up with it but there is a sad lesson to be learned from the movie /book I hope people who continue to have the jaws effect or just love jaws learn from it and try to alleviate to issues it has created Comment from : @cg4304 |
