Transmission (hard) X-Ray Spectrum Analysis is the only non destructive test to detect fraud Cheap way is to melt or cut it and use (soft) handheld X-ray gun to look at cut parts

Canada has so much gold that if they need to ban and buy it back you only get $50 Gold is plentiful here still but prohibited for mining until the revenue is required as the state gets a share of all gold mined

I bought a fake 1/2 Oz gold Pamp bar about 5-6 years ago It was in a crimped poorly done blister pack and appeared to thick and slightly scratched and tiny tarnish spots I sent it back, got a full refund About a week later the bar came back to me as the seller refused the package

Thanks Sal ✅, I have the Sigma Mini Pro with 3 wands Works great with bars and coins, for me Au, Pt, Pd & Ag Using the full mini pro and a calibrated scale encompasses all issues around resistivity & density differences for these PM’s Operator error can be reduced by educating oneself on resistivity measurements (ranges for each PM) and proper use of base unit and wands ChrisCard

I agree that the portrait on the Maple Leaf is really bad But why did they put George Washington on a Canadian coin anyway? But seriously, the Royal Mint did a much better job on Her Majesty on their Britainnias, as did the Perth Mint, and others I love that the Britannia has so many micro-engraved security marks and features Also the Perth Mint Kangaroo's incredibly tiny, laser-etched "A" that they include inside a letter on the reverse (and both countries include their features on both silver and gold coins) Newer silver Krugerrands also have some interesting micro-laser etching on them I haven't purchased a newer gold Krugerrand, so don't know if they have this feature or not These are better features than the lame "missing reed" on the AGEs I haven't seen any stacker channel do a video on these different micro-etched security features - maybe it would make a good video! I have 2008 and 2009 gold maples, but they have no reeded background around the Queen's portrait just a flat background Are these fake or generic rounds and not actual gold maple leafs? The edge of the coins are reeded Update: the radial lines on the faces were added in 2015

#124 Great video Sal I have a Sigma now only after spending over $80000 unfortunately on Seated, Morgan’s and Peace dollars, but they were Street silver, so I have no one to blame but myself I still have reservations about the coins because out of the 32 coins, four have the arrow all the way to the right and the other 28, the line was just outside the brackets I did the magnet test and they seem fine I’m waiting for my pinger to come in the mail and run that test No real special dates either It’s hard to fathom that they were all fake But I guess it is what it is Take care Thanks

I have the Sigma PMV Pro Mini, great tester I got it so I can take it with me to coin shows (not test the coins in front of the dealer 😉), estate sales, and of course check my purchases For a stacker, having any one of the Sigma testers is a must have to protect your investment The pocket pinger and the associated app is an option for the budget conscious I bought that kit with the fake coins as well Good video Sal!

I’ve seen a fake GML on YouTube (forget who posted it) The fake GML had radial lines and does the light cartwheels when you tilt the coin But what the fake GML could not do is replicate the very fine radial lines of the original Original GML has very fine radial lines and are very closely packed to each other Fake GML has radial lines that are spaced out more brIf you compare a fake to the original, it will be very obvious which one is fake So it’s important to look at the details

I have the PMV mini that reads all the way through the coin, plus wands for bars Anyone who buys PM should bite the bullet and spend the money on a good tester IMO But first you should only buy from trusted sources I bought mine for estate sales and such A lot of fakes especially Morgan’s I have found in the wild and the PMV has saved me $
