I've slowly been moving to using my SoFi account more than the bank I've been using for 15 years I started putting them on direct deposit this year I'm going to get their HYSA I wish PenFed offered a little more That account has been a little underused by me as well

side note but F*CK discover One time there was an error on their end on a payment i made i made it on time, their system did not register it and faulted me for a late payment I was able to remove the late payment but guess what, when that faulty late payment hit, they dropped my credit card from 10,000 to 500 (keep in mind, I've had their card for 4 years without a single missed payment i was spending thousands on that i asked for the 10k again, they said no, i gotta do it slowly again

@daniel braun / I also have been banking with SoFi, for a year I got in at a 45 APY (currently 40) to say the least it has been a complete banking transformation the amount of monthly interest i earn monthly is incredible the principle of compounding interest is also HUGE with the high APY and right amount of money entering the account per month, on top of the interest, it is a wealth generator depending on one’s financial position! thanks for the video

Something neat I found out is that for CapitalOne, when I signed up for a checking and savings account from them, I was also able to get a $250 and $300 signup bonus for those accounts by putting in specific promo codes at the time and putting some of my existing cash into those accounts for about 90 days, which gave me $550 no strings attached for a HYSA I planned on using anyway I’m not sure if the promo code is still valid, but is worth a shot

I’ve been using bask bank They are pretty nice You can set up a checking about with them too and they offer a debit card, getting 1 with your checking It’s a great option for emergency funds

On your note on Cash management accounts, Fidelity invests that money into SPAXX which is a govt secured bond Doesnt it mean, even if the middle man bank fails, Fidelity is tracking the bond investment? It feels safe bcoz of that aspect Am I missing anything here?

On SoFi you do not have to have direct deposit set up to get high interest on savings, if you deposit $5k or more into your SoFi account you qualify for the high interest rate also

Once rates drop low enough, I'm closing out on my Sofi account I was in the middle of a home refi, and they wouldn't let me wire my money out to go to escrow They told me, you can only wire money out for a NEW home purchase loan

You didn’t mention PIBank which was 550 last year and currently 475 today Sure it’s owned by another bank but it is still FDIC insured and has no fees The UI within the app is not too great, but I value my money compounding at a higher rate more than a nice user interface
