PSA: invest in an equivalent US treasury to avoid state income taxes (if you live in a state that has state tax) instead of CDs The payout might not be monthly and such but you can ladder them so that they interest is spread out throughout a year

Here's an interesting question: If I wanted to invest $100,000 in CDs over the next 5 years, would it be better to set-up a CD ladder (1 year, 2 year, 3, year, 4year, 5year) or would it be better to purchase 5 separate, 5-year CDs at $20,000? You probably need more information to answer that question, but I had never thought about breaking up CDs to minimize potential withdrawal penalties

High yield savings is the best place to keep an emergency fund! I use cds for specific purchases that I have in mind in x time For example, I want to get a new computer by the end of 2025 So, I already have the money allocated for it in a certificate that matures near the end of 2025
