Diagnosed ASD at age 50, diagnosed ADHD and NVLD at age 55 It's been about a month ago on the ADHD and NVLD, still trying to find a therapist as I'm at a loss what to do with all this I've felt different, wrong and excluded all my life, and lived my life alone Depression and anxiety are products of all this, not comorbidities Who wouldn't be, given all this?

Im sure its hard to catch on and familiarize at Work Some work places and atmosphere are Go Go Go, asking for accommodations and Help just familiarizing with needs to be done in the workplace i think one should ask for Im so new at discovering this disorder im so sorry for all of you that are grown adults that get overlooked Please dont give up!! And Believe ALl things are possible with God!! And you got to believe in yourself and have some confidence brbrLookk unto more resources to help I worked at a Rehabilitation Center one time because of my disability and that really really helped! Those type of workplaces are the best to work at some even have ride to work programs

I have a mild form of high functioning asd that used to be called Asperger's syndrome its basically like NVLD with people affected by it having higher verbal iq than performance iq (with Asperger's the performance iq isnt necessarily below average) children with Asperger's are often of above average intelligence and advanced vocabulary skills (like me) but struggle with non-verbal and social sides of stuff just like NVLD I was first thought to have some sort of PDD-NOS leaning more to the Asperger's side when i was a toddler because my speech development and intellectual development was not delayed but i didnt fill every criteria only some but later when i was 9 i got officially diagnosed with Asd level 1 without intellectual or language impairment (Aka Asperger's syndrome)

I was just diagnosed at age 34 I've always felt different I can't create templates, read maps, recall movie plots, and I have trouble with math, but I always made amazing grades, I became fluent in Spanish, I'm amazing at proofreading and spelling, and I'm extremely charismatic and social I'm so relieved to find a community and to see that I'm not alone ❤️

im 20 and i struggled my whole life in education settings until i was diagnosed in grade 11, my last year of high school with all the help i could get i was actually able to soar thru classes with better grades! im grateful for the research people do to make the things not possible to elders with nvld possible for me and ill forever be grateful i could be this lucky in this day and age for the science and technology we have so we understand neurological disabilities even better now ^_^

I'm glad I was diagnosed early Although my parents acted like it was wrong diagnoses and kind of expected me to be normal I knew that I was diagnosed something but they didn't tell me just that I struggle with things I have found my diagnosis on paper in a box in the atic from when I was 6 It clearly stated I had verbal learning disorder It didn't say non-verbal but just verbal I guess it's probably the same but I'm glad I found out what really my case were bc I didn't knew how to explain it to ppl😅

Was diagnosed with NVLD at the age of 14 I only know math up to a 3rd grade level I struggled with bullying which caused the development of social anxiety It can be extremely overwhelming at times especially with both conditions

I'm a 43 year old man with NVLD and I'm an emotionally destroyed man The feeling that there's that thought of, "what I might have been able to do if I hadn't been cursed with this problem" I didn't even know what my learning disability was until about a week ago and it opened my eyes I've found some support from a YouTube personality, who is also an adult struggling through adult life with NVLD I was diagnosed with ADD in 1984 at the age of six I was jerked out of my first grade classroom and put into the basement of the elementary school with children who had differing severities of learning disorders, ranging from Down Syndrome, to kids who were fifteen in the fifth grade and thought they were going to be a policeman to kids with lesser severity of LD brbrI would volunteer for experimental treatments, just for the CHANCE at curing this affliction! I believe I was diagnosed with nvld not sure I was just told I have LD that I had problems with math and that I wouldn't graduate from high school, that I needed to be enrolled in a vocational school Well I graduated from an academic high school with okay marks A Decade after that i went to college and took a welding course and became a welder/fabricator A couple of more decades late,r I'm going back to school at the ripe old age of 47 and have enrolled for a vet tech course, hoping to bridge over to full DVM, by the time I'm 50 Not bad for someone who thought all his life that he was stupid

My daughter was just diagnosed with NVLD at age 14 My other daughter had Rett’s Syndrome She passed away in 2011 I am adopted so I don’t know any brFamily history I know that, one day we will NVLD, ASD’s & Rett’s are all genetic mutations (Rett’s mutation has already been found) First start to a cure!

I have NVLD, ADD (NOT ADHD!!!!), SPD, Congenital Nystagmus Horizontal Jerk Type, and a mild form of cerebral palsy (thank Thor I don’t need a wheel chair or crutches] I just graduated college with an art history degree and plan to go to grad school for arts management Out of all of the disorders I have, NLD was by far the hardest to deal with With Thor’s protection and Odin’s tough love, I got through the last half of my hardships during college I can say that finding the gods and goddesses of my ancestors really helped me I feel that as someone with NLD and SPD, that I am more open to spiritual experiences and I believe that I have a very acute sixth sense Do other people with NLD share the same experience that they have a heightened sixth sense?

I'm pleased to see more investigation & research on this topic While I've read many books on the subject, I am aware that there is almost no public recognition of NVLD One thing I would stress is that everyone involved in this field focus on the strengths that people with this learning disorder have Many of the difficulties can be overcome & you can learn to adapt You might not be able to overcome all of them, ( for my loved one the social interaction & self confidence in social settings is the most difficult obstacle to overcome) but you can still be a happy, successful individual with NVLD

I appreciate these publicizings of information about NVLD I've suffered from it my whole life and am now in my 60's But I would like to see more research results and information about NVLD regarding adults instead of seeing it almost exclusively focused on children Yes, understanding children and helping them to deal with this condition is immensely important But adult lives are important too We adults can suffer from this condition as much if not more than kids can and could use all the help we can get in understanding and dealing with our NVLD
