I've lived in Mexico for about 12 years, on and off I watched it gradually but steadily get more and more expensive and the temp and permanent stay visas get tighter and more controlled Also, the attitude toward 'gringos' is not as friendly as it once was either by the government or the locals Advice, learn Spanish!

I grew up in Junta era Greece in the 60's There were few expats The only reliable motel chain was operated by the State brbrI am SO glad there was no Internet and no You Tubers visiting my country and passing themselves off as experts to a slightly less informed audience after a few days of visiting When I went back to Greece after university in 1982 and knew the cost of things in Canada and the USA, I could truly say that the Greek Islands were "cheap"
