A friend gave us a portable dishwasher when he remodeled his deceased mother's house before selling it I looked online for an operating instruction booklet but couldn't find one for a GE top load manufactured in June 1945 It is a very pretty, well constructed little machine It cleans a load very well in 28 minutes The dry cycle works well but we live in the desert so I air dry I will take it to the local museum when we strip the kitchen in a couple of weeks because I don't want to wrestle with a portable or a top load for the next 20 years ( We are 78) Sorry, I don't know how to upload photos in comments

We bought a suite of LG appliances in 2000 and have already had to replace the refrigerator The wash pump went out on the dishwasher and we replaced the part ourselves, but now the dishwasher can't complete a cycle without an error code Our nice gas range with double ovens isn't displaying all the LED lights that show the temperature, so hard to read No more LG appliances will ever come into our home Looking at Bosch 500 series to replace the LG

Kitchen aid is made by Whirlpool which is garbage My Whirlpool never cleaned anything and broke after a year I had a Bosch 300 that didn’t connect to wifi and didn’t dry a thing I might try the 800 but I don’t want to have to connect it to WiFi I’m returning the 300 after less than a week

The top of the line KitchenAid has to be the worst dishwasher I’ve ever owned! I’ve had to replace the food grinder 6 times in 3 years! It doesn’t clean or dry, it has leaked since day 1 and the racks have fallen apart brbrIf you buy a Bosch! Be prepared to call the repair man often!

The problem with DWs today is the detergent It's too temperature sensitive Also, the public complained about them being too loud The solution that the manufacturers came up with was putting a smaller wash pump in it

I've had several Whirlpool-umbrella dishwashers (Maytag, Kenmore, Whirlpool, Kitchenaid) that were working perfectly, but were recalled for fire hazard problems relating to the rinse aid dispenser The terms of the recall were highly unfavorable to the owner, not even covering the full cost of removal of the old unit and delivery and installation of the new one brI bought a Bosch 800-series and haven't looked back, sort of like my Speed Queen washer I'm going all Bosch and Thermador for my planned kitchen renovation, looking on eBay display and scratch-and-dent for the best prices

Bosch800 series Mine is quiet, bought it for about $700 on scratch and dent, damaged door panel The seller either replaced the dented door or delivered a new undamaged unit When my water heater failed I learned that the dishwasher fully heats the water

It doesn't take that much effort to take something apart and put it back together watch a YouTube video if there's one out there for it or just figure out all the parts you have taken out has to go back in it and also record yourself while taking it apart remember practically everything comes apart😊

Frigidaire plastic basin over here: there is a hole on the bottom from a warped heating element and it ruined my floor When your first recommendation was to get metal, it didn't take much more I'll go without a dishwasher for a bit until we can grab one

I had a Kitchen Aid top of the line (over 180000) and had nothing but trouble over the 6 years I had it i replaced the heater, the detergent dispenser, the pump, t the filter, now the motor went, also had to replace parts of the upper rack that just fell apart Not the performance I expected from Kitchen Aid top of the line i just purchased a new LG

Good and thorough advice, thank you Concerning European brands, Neff is actually part of BSH/Bosch, Their machines are identical to Bosch with minor differences in features Miele has taken a serious hit to their reputation due to outsourcing their production to Eastern Europe and cheapening their production gradually over the past 10 years This is one of the many reasons that Miele has run into serious trouble, facing extensive layoffs in Germany Other brands (especially Bosch/Siemens/Neff) are now offering similar or even better quality and features There is just no point in spending double on a Miele than you would on a BSH product brbrWhile reliability has gone downhill (with their legendary washing machines W1 being the worst offenders) their pricing of parts and repairs is absolutely outrageous When our Miele dw quit after eight years they would charge 500€/550$ just for parts(PCB), and additional 350$ for labor plus 190€/210$ for diagnosis and travel costs - for a dishwasher that had cost 1350€/1500$ new We went for a new Neff instead (700€) brbrI did some research on this and found out that Miele had McKinsey "optimize" their service operations Their focus has shifted from doing repairs to selling extended warranties and accessories And here's the kicker: they would blow up cost estimates for repairs on purpose in order to upsell the customer to a discounted new unit Instead of having the dw repaired for over 900€ we could have bought a new one from Miele for 10 below retail This is nothing less than a racket Will Miele be around in ten years? I doubt it Miele products are defintely not worth the extra money anymore and people are noticing Why spend 1600$ on a Miele washer or dishwasher when you could buy a TOL Bosch/Siemens/Neff for 900?

Our Bosch dishwasher purchased 7 years ago has had its front display fail, the start plastic button physically break and fill pump fail I fixed those issues, but now the plastic that connects the buttons to control board has crumbled so buttons fell into the door I have to use a piece of styrofoam to prop them up The pump, etc, are working fine My Bosch is kinda junk

I have had 2 Bosch dishwashers No complaints, replaced the first one because we went with all stainless steel appliances Sold the first and heard it is still going good They are a very quiet dishwasher I Have had the last one over 6 years I am sold on the Bosch I also had a Modern Maid and Maytag I really didn’t have any problem with them They were just not as nice as the Bosch They get old and we think we need to replace them

I call BS on metal units needing to be hundreds of dollars more expensive than plastic The steels used are very thin and the amount of metal used is quite small If you crushed all the steel into a compact ball you’d be surprised how small that ball would be
