They actually had primitive gatlin guns when the constitution was signed, so repeating and automatic rifles weren’t that far fetched The M-2 and M-1900 were both developed around the turn of the 20th century, just over a hundred years after the revolution and less than 50 after the civil war To act like the founders had no concept of something like an AR-15 being developed eventually is naive at best
